Some People are Selling “‘Splash Mountain’ Water” from the Now-Closed Disney World Ride

A few enterprising folks are shilling water they purport is from the recently defunct “Splash Mountain” ride.

Plus, Southwest Airlines is reportedly releasing flight attendant trainees who have tattoos visible on specific body areas. But wasn’t this preventable?

Those are some of the day’s travel headlines I thought you, too, may find interesting.

Psst, Buddy. Wanna Buy Some “Splash Mountain” Water?

“Splash Mountain” took its final plunge at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on Monday.

Knowing there are extreme Disney fans and collectors out there, some online sellers are hawking water allegedly captured during the final days of Splash Mountain rides.

I’m not saying these sellers are lying or running some a scam to con suckers out of a few bucks. But I wonder if they sell other aquatic properties — like oceanfront mansions in North Dakota.

“Splash Mountain”’s theme was based on Disney’s Song of the South, a film taking place on a plantation in the post-Civil War South. What could possibly go wrong with a theme park ride based on that?

The log flume ride will return in late 2024 — as “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” centered around the Disney film Princess and the Frog.

(Sorry that I don’t have a Splash Mountain photo. I should’ve taken one during my daughter’s first Disneyland visit!) No word on when Disneyland’s “Splash Mountain” will close. (Thanks for the correction, @Chriskidder!)

Southwest Flight Attendant Trainees Getting Fired Because of Tattoos?

Something tells me Blink 182 drummer and Kourtney Kashian’s husband, Travis Barker won’t be a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines.

View from the Wing’s Gary Leff reports the Airline of Love is allegedly dismissing some flight attendants from training because of those new hires’ tattoos.

I can’t remember when I saw tattoos on a flight attendant or pilot. (Which isn’t to say it hasn’t happened.) I know some people use colored sleeves or wear long-sleeved shirts to cover up tattoos while working.

But the apparent beef here is that Southwest is purportedly not allowing tattoos anywhere “on the fingers, hands, face or neck…even if (trainees) are able to cover it up with makeup.”

Here’s what gets in my craw about this: why wasn’t this concern addressed during hiring? Why waste both trainees’ and company’s time — and money — when this could’ve been nipped in the bud?

A Happier Story About Flight Attendants

A Delta Connection flight attendant temporarily camped out in the aisle of a regional jet — to comfort an anxious passenger.
