Delta and American Express announced something fun today: Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Cards and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Cards made from a retired Delta Boeing 747-451!
To celebrate, massive welcome promotions were announced.
Let’s take a look!
The Delta Reserve 747 Metal Amex Cards
These limited edition Delta Reserve Amex cards are comprised of 25% metal from a retired Delta Air Lines Boeing 747 plane.
The jet was registered as N667US. She made her first flight on June 28, 1990; her final flight took place November 18, 2017. This Queen of the Skies flew 68,000,000 miles during that stretch.
Here’s a video of the actual plane that can be part of your wallet.
The Delta Reserve 747 metal Amex cards are available to new and existing cardholders who request them before August 3!
Big Welcome Promotions
Delta and American Express relaunched some pretty major bonus SkyMiles offers for the Reserve, Platinum, and Gold cards.
Remember that SkyMiles award travel on Delta earns MQD, MQM, and MQS to Medallion status. So, if there’s a Delta Amex you haven’t yet held, it could be worth it to add another to your credit card arsenal. Use it to pay for award trips and rack up your elite earnings!

- Free first checked bag for the cardholder and up to eight others on the same Delta PNR/reservation

I already have a Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card. How can I get a 747 card? Do I need to request it, or will AMEX send one to all cardholders?
You can request one. I’m putting together a how-to post.
Wait for the instruction or you can easily figure it out your self. Just log on to amex website and go to account service and request a replacement card. The reason for replacement card is pretty obvious. “I want to change card design”. select and rest should be self explanatory.
Online or on the app you can select “replace card”. For the reason select “change design” then select “747”
It was a quick and easy process
On the AMEX site->Account Services->Replace a Card. Select that you want to change the design and then select the Boeing 747 card.
Saw this early today, called and was able to request one (the agent had to look it up). Kinda cool that my Card in the Amex App is already updated!
Chris, looking forward to the post on how to request. On AmEx now and it’s not intuitive…
I’m workin’ on it, I’m workin’ on it! 😉
Here’s my handy-dandy little post.
You can request an update by going to the chat in the app and type in the chat “I want to change card design.” I just did it in 5 minutes, no phone call required and the 747 was an option right in the app.
Any idea why Delta doesn’t seem to be offering MQM with credit card sign ups any more?
When the big SkyMiles offers aren’t available, some of the cards offer MQM bonuses.
I’d love to see the creation process of the 747 card, it states that it’s 25% 747 metal
