Hold on to your hats, folks. We found an AeroMexico mileage run. And there are a bunch of available dates this fall.

Seattle to Lima Mileage Run

I heard about a Seattle-Mexico City-Lima roundtrip business class mileage run on AeroMexico. According to the Unofficial SkyMiles Calculator, it travels 9,922 miles. It should code a D-up fare. So when you credit the trip to your Delta SkyMiles account, you should earn:

  • $3,968 MQD
  • 14,884 MQM
  • 19,844 redeemable SkyMiles (before any applicable Medallion bonuses)

Here’s an example run::

A Seattle to Lima mileage run on AeroMexico

AeroMexico charges $1,293 for the trip — and that’s where I’d book. I’ve heard so many nightmares during the past year from people who booked through an online travel agency and ended up getting worked over somehow. Again, just my opinion based on stories people told me.

Here is a Google Flights link to help you get started.

Some itineraries have you spend 30+ hours in Mexico City. Others (like this) are only four-ish hours. And, as you can see, this has you spend a night in Lima.

“Wait! How Does the Trip Cost $1,293 But Earn $3,968?”

I’m glad you asked! Read this post.

Book Soon

As of this post, there are plenty of available dates from August through October. But when we blog mileage runs, the deals have a tendency to disappear. Why?

  • The airline hikes the price ASAP, or
  • Lots of people book the trip, or
  • Both of the above

“But I Want to Go to Europe or Asia! When Will Those Mileage Runs Return?”

We’re pretty much at the “We Get What We Get” point. I hate to say it.

AeroMexico is not playing ball with giving us options to book trips from North America to Asia or Europe.

We have no idea when or if those opportunities will return.

“Who Can Help Me Find Other Mileage Runs or Assist With Booking This One?”

The mileage run department at point.me (formerly Juicy Miles) creates customized mileage runs based on your budget, airline/alliance preferences, status needs, schedule, etc.

Plus, they monitor your reservations for flight changes, etc. They can even help with hotel bookings, COVID testing, etc.

point.me has tailored hundreds of mileage runs for this blog’s readers during the past several years. If you want an amazing mileage run, get in touch now with point.me!

I did this mileage run twice pre pandemic I live in Seattle. .If I recall correctly the price was about $2K Once I was able to return on the same flight that brought me to LIMA and didn’t even clear customs. There was a nice lounge at the LIMA airport.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything with an immediate turn — at least at the lowish price.

Those holding Amex cards might be able to knock the price down even further with their recent offer for $300 off $1000+ expenditures, since AeroMexico is one of the eligible airlines. It does require you to book through Amex Travel though.

@MFK – Have done that before and it works great. Can also use other cards that offer travel credits as well.

What are the testing requirements to stay the one night in Lima before returning to Seattle?

@Mike – Vaxed and boosted then no need for test. See: https://trexperienceperu.com/blog/travel-restrictions-to-peru/

Do notice there is an electronic form to fill out 72 hours before arrival.

        Thanks Rene!
I saw on the site that vaxed and boosted was shown as three jabs. I went with the J&J option, getting 2 jabs. Am I good to go?

@Mike – That I can not say. Maybe time for a mRna booster as well? I personally have had my 2 Moderna shots and 2 Moderna boosters.

Isn’t there a hotel in the airport parking lot? I believe I stayed there once on a run with the grand poobah, super convenient and the Pisco Sours were great at the bar.

Jack is right, the Lima airport lounge was very nice if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the heads up Chris. You da man!

@Graydon – Yes. Right as you exit arrivals. It is a Wyndham property: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham/lima-peru/wyndham-costa-del-sol-lima-airport/overview

All the dates that I checked were on 737s, not the most comfortable for the redeye from SEA to MEX. Are any of these flights served by 787?

Chris, thanks for the quick response. Seriously considering, just not sure Mrs. DLPTATL will share my enthusiasm.

But she can tell her friends she’s “jetting to Peru for a quick trip.” That sounds cool, doesn’t it?
