Delta First Class and Delta One passengers eager to enjoy pre-departure beverages will have that thirst quenched starting June 2.

Yes: pre-departure beverages will return to Delta.

Delta employees confirmed the news this morning during the airline’s inaugural A321neo flight and related festivities.

Coincidentally (or not), that’s the day Delta flight attendants start getting paid for the time spent boarding the plane. Everyone wins.

Cheers to that!

I had heard that as possible, Chris; thanks for confirming!

Just wish they would put Canadian Club back on flights along with the other beverages that have not returned. Any word on this??

    Thanks

It would be so much better if Delta didn’t nickel and dime it’s biz class passengers by not serving champagne before departure on international flights. The stuff they serve instead is not good.

We were served sparkling wine before the inaugural flight this morning. I didn’t finish mine — but I’m not a champagne or sparkling wine fan.

How about glassware? Were drinks served in plastic cups on your flight?

I’m sipping a Tip-Top Old Fashioned out of a glass right now. For what it’s worth, I had glassware in D1 between LAX and JFK last September.

Our sparkling wine PDB today (something special for the inaugural, I assume) was served in a plastic glass.

How is the WiFi working? Is it Viasat?

The WiFi is awful. And, yes, it’s Viasat. It’s a small miracle if I stay connected for more than six or seven minutes at a time.

Now bring back Jack Daniel’s as the “House” Bourbon (Tennessee Whiskey) at the Sky Clubs. Yesterday in Atlanta every Sky Club had a line to enter except “D” (the one near I believe D29). Must be a lot of Reserve Cards out there.

I’ve found it’s hit or miss. MSP-PDX today & not offered. Plenty of ground time.

6’4”/240 lbs+/- purchase 1st/Business class, no alcohol consumed before ATL-LAX or ATL-LAS and noticed once airborne, limited to 3 “Jack and Cokes”(No Limes available since COVID-19). Respectfully ask for a fourth and DENIED every time! Reasons vary from “You’ve had 3”, “we’re landing shortly”, or “I’m sorry, can’t serve more than 3”. I tried the “May I have a “double” and I was allowed once with one regular. Water is offered. Once, I asked “politely”, “Do I appear intoxicated”?, then response was nothing less than a “roll of the eyes”. I think being a “Free Agent” is the way forward OR “Basic Economy”, although, I’d throw my back out and offend my seat mates.

Wow, really? I’ve never heard or witnessed “(I) can’t serve more than three.”

As a “Once a Week” Catholic, I swear on my life. I could see if you’re visibly intoxicated, loud, boisterous, etc., but when you’re clearly not driving when headed to LAS(I’ve mentioned it a few times), but since we’ve lost the “seasoned” Flight Attendants with the early out, I’m seeing “Growing Pains” throughout the Delta system. The problem is, do I have the time/patience going forward. Seriously was considering buying the “Big Front Seat” on Spirit from ATL – LAS, but I just can’t bring myself to it.

No, no, I didn’t doubt you. I was more shocked than anything. I’ve seen flight attendants raise their eyebrows at people who are starting to get a little tipsy — giving them a look of “I’m silently telling you this is your last one.” But that’s usually after a bunch of drinks — and the passenger is starting to get a little flushed or glassy-eyed.

Everyone handles alcohol differently. My wife can have a canned margarita and it’s nappy time about 40 minutes later. I’ll sip a double Old Fashioned over the course of 45 or 60 minutes and actually be productive. Some of my flight attendant sources — and these are folks with seniority — have basically said that if a passenger isn’t being disruptive or becoming visibly wasted, they’ll serve. Or offer subtle little “slow ‘er down” hints like, “Great — I’ll be back with that and a glass of water.”
