It’s been a minute since we found a halfway decent Delta mileage run. Fuel prices and other costs seem to be driving airfares higher and higher — and that certainly hasn’t helped.
But we came across this Boston (BOS) to Lihue (LIH) mileage run that might tempt a few folks.
It’s a Main Cabin run costing $535.89. Delta said it yields 10,733 MQM. That rounds up to 5 CPM (more like 4.99 CPM).
The trip departs BOS on Tuesday, November 8, at 7:00 AM. That trip to ATL is scheduled for a 757-200 with Delta One seats. So, you could use a Global Upgrade Certificate to score an immediate upgrade or waitlist with a Regional Certificate. From there, you fly to LAX then LIH.
Your layover in Lihue is just under four hours. You might have time to grab a drink and some bar food at Duke’s. (Check out reader Sandy’s review and how-to.) Then you fly LIH to LAX on a redeye and LAX to BOS. The final leg is scheduled for a 757-200 with Delta One — and that cabin is wide-open as of this post.
There’s ample time to enjoy Sky Clubs in Boston, Atlanta, and the beautiful new club at LAX. So, you’re in luck if you have one of these American Express cards that get you complimentary Delta lounge access.
Consider These Pros and Cons
Keep in mind this trip is over six months away. That’s plenty of time for myriad Delta schedule changes. What does that mean? Your trip could be rerouted — both for good and bad. So, keep an eye on your itinerary. You might be able to ask Delta for more favorable segments that yield more MQM.
That also means possible aircraft swaps. Your plane with Delta One might be downgraded to a jet with plain ole First Class. Or, you might find yourself on a widebody with more Delta One seats.

Hoping that some MQD runs on Aeromexico show up at some point this year.
