Delta Banana Bread Breakfast Box: Inflight Food Review!

I flew from Los Angeles to Minneapolis-St. Paul and sat in Delta’s first class cabin the other day, thanks to a complimentary Medallion upgrade. This was a morning flight — so we received breakfast.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, Delta significantly pared down its meal options. In June, the airline announced the reintroduction of hot meals in first class — but only on select flights. So I wondered if our LAX-MSP jaunt would receive a warm breakfast.

Well, we didn’t. Instead, we had a choice of breakfast boxes — and I went for the banana bread.

Now, we all have someone in our family or circle of friends who makes the World’s Best Banana Bread. 🙂 (Maybe you’re that person!) So it’s pretty gutsy of Delta to offer a favorite treat that’ll no doubt be compared to banana breads all over the world.

So how did Delta’s fare fare? (Redundancy mine.)

Delta Banana Bread Breakfast Box Review

Breakfast was served in a sealed box.

Here’s what’s inside the box.

Glassware and silverware are indefinitely a thing of the past. So drinks are served in plastic cups — and knives, forks, and spoons are made of bamboo. (Truthfully, I don’t mind the bamboo when it comes to something like banana bread.)

The inside of the box includes a printed reminder to keep your facemask on at all times except when you’re consuming a meal. (Lest you forget after it’s announced 842 times before and during the flight…)

How was the food itself?

Delicious! I’m very impressed with Delta’s banana bread. I mean, it’s not better than my wife’s banana bread or what my late mother made.

But I found it tasty, moist, and a tad rich. The banana flavor popped and there was a perfect amount of sweetness.

Like, I would order this at a coffee shop.

On the side was lemony yogurt with blueberries. That, too, was very good and nicely complemented the banana bread. The strawberry was fine but nothing like I experienced a couple of years ago.

Finally, there was a bag of trEAT4u trail mix.

I was full and didn’t have any room left to eat it! So I tossed it into my bag and saved it for another time.

Final Approach

I sort of miss the hot breakfast options on Delta flights, though I understand they’re served on some trips. But breakfasts can be such hit-or-miss. The Delta Banana Bread Breakfast Box is a great option I’d recommend if you’re given a choice.

Have you tried the Delta banana bread?

Delta really is the worst major US airline by a longship..pathetic they are still using COVID excuses while everyone else is brining back real food and service.

There is not one documented case that covid is spread thru touch. It is a respiratory disease. You get it from breathing. Stomach viruses such as norovirus spead thru surfaces, food contamination, etc. The hand sanitizer and disinfecting surfaces was to create a false sense of security, just like TSA was created after 911.

There is so much plastic, paper and cardboard wasted in doing this. And as one person said, using touch can spread infection as an excuse, Delta is just wasting away disposables.
