If you have been around the points game for a while, you fondly remember that American Express rolls out the “Shop Small” promotion each November. If you had a number of Amex cards, you could register this promotion on each Amex card you had, visit your favorite stores, and buy gift cards to redeem the offer. Sometimes, you could do a split pay and use a bunch of cards, and sometimes you had to buy a bunch of small cards. Either way, it was a great way to lock in huge discounts for future use.
Then Amex shut down the way to register each of your cards and drove the value of this promo so low that it was hardly worth it. But we found a workaround that opening many tabs when logged into Amex let you register a bunch of cards like before.
Then Amex shut that down as well. 🙁
The only remaining one that survived lets you register a bunch of cards (use incognito or private browsing) are cards that are not from Amex — but Amex logo or branded third party bank cards like the ones you see at the top of this post (there are a number of others, BTW). I have several of these cards for promos just like this one:
“Spend $10+, get $5 back up to 2X (total of $10) after you Shop Small
Valid until 08/22/2021
Get a $5 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single purchase of $10+ directly at any business on the Shop Small Map (or Online Directory) in the US or US territories by 08/22/21. Limit of 2 statement credits (total of $10 back).”
I was able to simply buy online a bunch of $10 gift cards at one of my local restaurants I frequent and received eGift cards. Each purchase triggered the e-mail from Amex that I had successfully redeemed the offer.
Another offer many may take advantage of is the Happy Card offer for use at Lowe’s i.e. you get $15 back when you spend $100 through July 26th. – René

I recently saw one of these on one of the additional card member’s online accounts for my personal Delta Reserve card, not not on my card!
Thank you for sharing. With regards to the Happy Cards offer, all the Happy Cards that can be used at Lowe’s now require the “online redemption” first to obtain a gift card from Lowe’s rather than the older plastic cards that can be used directly at the merchants as a credit card. How have you worked around that?
@HIS – I am not cashing them out via buying GCs at Lowes – just spending them at Lowes as we shop there often.
Tried to register our cards said not eligible!!!
@dee – If they are full Amex cards i.e. not 3rd party Amex it will not work.
