I’m not gonna lie. When I heard that changes were coming to The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, I was worried.
This was when there were nasty rumors circulating about card_name: that the Platinum’s card annual fee would jump (it did), the airline credit would get slashed (it didn’t), and the Uber Cash credit would be ditched (it stayed). You can read more here about the refreshed Platinum Card.
I feared The Business Platinum Card® from American Express would drop its 35% points rebate when using Membership Rewards points to pay for select airline fares through Amex Travel. (Enrollment required.) After all, it used to be 50%. Then Amex dropped it to 35%.
But the points rebate is precisely the reason I keep that card. If Amex were to kill that benefit, I’d cancel the card. I easily earn back its $695 annual fee (see rates and fees) . The Pay With Points rebate and Dell statement credits (enrollment required) cover that.
So what happened with the Business Platinum Card?
CLEAR Membership Credit
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express now offers its cardholders up to $189 in annual statement credits toward CLEAR Plus membership fees.
Remember that CLEAR now offers its members a “vaccine passport.” And it’s incredibly easy to get a CLEAR discount.

Whew.
Final Approach
I like The Business Platinum Card® from American Express because of its 35% Pay With Points rebate. The CLEAR statement credits are a nice addition. Even though I already have it with the refreshed card_name, I’ll probably use the Business flavor’s to pay for a friend or relative’s CLEAR membership or something.

Are the royal “we” concerned the Delta Reserve Amex fee will go up to match?
I don’t think so.
