According to two reports, Delta Air Lines is building a new Sky Club at Sea-Tac and relocating some of its operations at the Seattle airport.
The Puget Sound Business Journal‘s Andrew McIntosh writes (subscription required) that the $71 million lounge will be about 24,500 square feet in size — with another 2,300 square feet available for expansion.
From what I deduce, it seems as though the new club will be in the gates A12-13-14-20-21 area at the end of Concourse A.
It’s part of the airport’s new International Arrivals Facility that’s currently under construction.
The facility includes a bridge linking Concourse A to the South Satellite.
In a separate piece (subscription required), Mr. McIntosh notes:
- Delta and United will shuffle gates at SEA
- United will move its domestic flights from Concourse A to B
- Delta will move most of its operations to Concourse A
- Delta will keep a few gates in the B Concourse
- Delta will leave the South Satellite altogether (Yay! No more train rides!)
- United will shift its United Club to where the American Express Centurion Lounge is now.
- The Centurion Lounge is relocating to the Central Terminal area.
What Will Happen to the Current Delta Sky Club in Seattle?
I’m curious about that myself. It’s a gorgeous lounge offering spectacular views (and pretty good food, if you ask me.)
Honestly, I don’t know if Delta will keep both the current lounge and the new one once it opens. (That’s probably not going to happen for a few years.)
Keep in mind Delta’s leaving the South Satellite — which currently has a Sky Club (although it’s close for the time being). So that lounge will be done in a few years (if not sooner). So there has been a need (at least in the past) for two Sky Clubs.
Because Delta is apparently keeping some flights at the B gates, it’d be great for the current lounge to stay open. It’s on Concourse A but only a few steps from B.
But the far end of Concourse A — where we think the new lounge will be located — isn’t that far from the Delta Sky Club that’s up and running now. Consider, though, that Delta is duking it out with American and Alaska for Seattle bragging rights. The mothership even offered a buy one-get one sale for certain flights from Seattle.
So maybe they will keep both big clubs open.
I guess we’ll find out within a couple of years.

Lovely… all the better for us Seattleites. I used to fly Alaska all the time but sold on Delta these days… currently silver and will be gold after tomorrow flight!
