Chris, I’ve got a question on choice benefit selections. If I choose$200 travel voucher for a platinum selection, ( I never have in the past, usually RUG and used them all.) When I spend it will I get MQM’s and MQD’s ? Hope you have a Happy New Year! Thanks, Jeff
Happy New Year to you, too! Travel vouchers earn MQM, MQD, and redeemable SkyMiles. You can book travel up to a year in advance from the voucher’s expiration date. In other words, if your voucher doesn’t expire until January 31, 2022, you can use it up until then to book travel through January 31, 2023.
I’ll write about it later next month but I opted for 20,000 SkyMiles for my Platinum benefit because there’s no expiration date and I can apply them either toward an award trip or Pay with Miles.
Also, congrats on being able to use the RUG! My luck has stunk with them. (Then again, I usually try to use them for Delta One upgrades in the US.)
I agree with you Chris regarding the 20000 miles vs $200 voucher. I do the same. The only 2020 benefit I have left to use is 1 Diamond benefit. Ideally I would opt for the GUC but I don’t think I’m going to be able to use them all next year. I may take a chance and select that anyway as close as possible to Jan 31st, to get the full year (and who knows maybe they will add some time on to them). Otherwise I’ll take the 25000 skymiles but the GUC are much more valuable if you can use them.
By the way, don’t use the 2020 Diamond benefit for Sky Club access, it will only give you access until the end of next month.
@Barry – Same applies to gifting status from the 2020 CB!
