Oh, yeah, I am going here. Where?
The Delta Sky Club restrooms.
You see, if you have never been in one, most of them include quality Malin + Goetz soap and or lotion.
Personally, I love the soap. I like the smell and cleaning quality.
However, as I have blogged before, it is one of my pet gripes that when in a hurry I tend to squirt the lotion all over my dirty hands and have to double wash myself. I know, first world problems.
When I have complained about the lotion before, reader comments were rather roll eyes-worthy that I could not simply look and see the difference between the DARK GREEN that is the soap option and the LIGHT GREEN that is the lotion. Yeah, well… Maybe. But I know I am not the only one who makes this mistake.
Anyway, I have been flying a number of Delta flights the past few months and am seeing the trend you see above that is two Malin + Goetz soap vs. one soap and one lotion. Count me happy! 😉
Others, it seems, are not happy about this trending change. They say, during the cold winter months (almost over – yeah) it is nice to be able to have a quality lotion option to keep dry hands happier.
Thus the controversy.
So, since it is a weekend, you tell me. Are you happy that Delta is switching a number of clubs to all soap? Does this make the lotion mistake less likely to happen or more since you are now getting used to not looking for light green vs. dark green? Would you miss the lotion if it all goes away? You tell me! – René

It is probably more a case of Spanish or poorly educated janitors not being able to tell the difference because the brand standard remains one of each.
I have made the same mistake. Delta should leave the soap by the sinks and put hand cream dispensers by the paper towel dispensers. I would rather apply hand lotion after drying my hands anyway.
Nope. Bring back the lotion!! I need to moisturize my hands. I find that brand of soap fragrant, drying. Plus, who needs two soap dispensers side by side?
Using hand lotion after washing hands is pretty much a necessity for Black folk to avoid the yucky “ashy” appearance and feel caused by dry, dead skin cells contrasting with natural skin color. There are a zillion ways to avoid mixing up the soap and lotion. Don’t do away with the lotion. Having lotion encourages washing hands IMO and that’s good. AA has good hand lotion in its clubs but should be ashamed for not providing any in the lavs on airplanes even in business and first.
I love the Malin and Goetz lotion and soap just where it is. My sky club skin care routine is to watch first with soap, then while my hands are still wet, put the lotion on my hands then dry them. It leave the perfect amount of lotion with no greasy feeling – perfect for when you are on the plane.
I learned that from a nurse awhile back.
I say bring back the lotion altho I don’t care where it is as long as it’s back.
Why does this evoke a response now? This has been going on for almost one year in many of the clubs. Luckily they still keep both on the planes.
@Larry: I must be going to the wrong Sky Clubs.
I’m definitely team lotion and have missed it when it wasn’t available on my last mileage run. My hands were particularly dry, and when I went for it, was very disappointed when it wasn’t there.
MD I’m with you !
Flying makes your skin dry. Extra sanitizing makes it more dry and cold makes it alligator skin.
I always read the bottles for a second to make sure I’m using the proper item first. I use a paper towel to squeeze the lotion into my damp hands, rub , dry and perfecto!
We need lotion
I just hate having to to use a pump dispenser when there should be hands free options. Washing hands often is great protocol, but not when you have to touch the same germ infested pump that everybody else has used. Doesn’t this bother anybody else? The piles of paper towels are wasteful and awkward. What is wrong with dispensers? I guess unsanitary is fancier?
ATL is the biggest culprit. SkyClub employee told me it was because lotion was going down the drain and clogging up the pipes. Sounds suspicious, but no where in ATL SkyClubs has there been lotion for a very long time.
Delta could easily have asked the supplier to have two very different colors for the soap and lotion containers. I used lotion to wash my hands many times by mistake.
I love the lotion. Need it!
I too highly want the lotion to stay … especially if we are washing hands more.
The lotion is one of my favorite things about Skyclub. I know it sounds ridiculous but that small touch is a small feeling of “luxury”, of being taken care of, that helps make it worth the entry fee. Extremely disappointed.
They should just put the lotion somewhere else so it’s not easily confused with the soap.
Just been on the Sky Club at MSP. Both soap and lotion are now LeLabo. It seems Delta parted ways with Malin and Goetz for good. BTW, the LeLabo bottles are very easy to identify which one is soap vs lotion.
separate the lotion away from the sinks if really needed?? I have seen 2 lotions and NO soap causing problems
