Delta flyers in the Midwest: we found two London winter weekend mileage runs for you – and one involves an A350!
Our previous London mileage post was good for West Coast and East Coast travelers (especially those based in Delta’s official new hub). But I felt bad because there was nothing for our Midwestern readers.
But I just found these deals from Chicago O’Hare to London Heathrow for ~$448! One of the options includes a ride on the new A350!
They’re Main Cabin “V” fares and bookable on Delta.com.
The trip starts Friday afternoon, December 6 from ORD and returns late Sunday evening, December 8. You have Saturday afternoon and evening to enjoy London. Winter markets will be open — that alone is a great excuse to go!

Several different routings are available for this price. There are some $10 cheaper options but the CPM isn’t as appealing as these.
The two most appealing options go through Atlanta and depart Friday at 1:08 PM; they arrive in London at 11:10 AM Saturday. (Non-Chicago based travelers: the 1:08 PM departure may allow you to arrive in ORD early or mid-morning.)
The returns, however, differ in MQMs, arrival time, and aircraft.
Option 1: More MQMs, Early Morning, Return Through Minneapolis (MSP)
Friday: ORD-ATL-LHR
Arrive Saturday and stay overnight
Sunday: LHR-AMS-MSP-ORD
Price: $447.63
MQMs: 9983
CPM: 4.5 CPM
MQDs: 327
This trip involves a 6:30 AM departure from London to Amsterdam on KLM. All the other flights are aboard Delta mainline metal. This option arrives at ORD at 4:10 PM — so you could theoretically catch a flight after that if you have to reposition home (or start another run!).

Want to sacrifice 226 MQMs in exchange for two hours more sleep and an A350 ride? Then check out —
Option 2: Fewer MQMs, A350, Return Through Detroit (DTW)
Friday: ORD-ATL-LHR
Arrive Saturday and stay overnight
Sunday: LHR-AMS-DTW-ORD
Price: $447.63
MQMs: 9757
CPM: 4.6 CPM
MQDs: 327
This return leaves London at 8:30 AM and involves a nearly six-hour layover in Amsterdam (AMS). Like Option 1, the LHR to AMS hop is operated by KLM.
However, your AMS to DTW ride is aboard Delta’s fancy-schmancy new Airbus 350 flagship product. You return to ORD at 9:52 PM.

Rollover MQM run!
Rene I live in Minneapolis. With option 1 what would happen If I didn’t take the final leg back to Chicago? I have to leave for work at 7:00 AM on Monday morning and I don’t think I could make it if I go back to Chicago.
