Welcome to a regular feature on the Renés Points blog. This blog series covers in a “rookie” way either a Delta or travel related theme and attempts to break down to a basic level each topic. You can read up on all the previous posts HERE. Now on to this featured topic.
Is this light and sound show too much?
Let me start off with the disclaimer that most folks really like the funky light and sound show that is the underground connector that gets you back and forth from the main A Delta Detroit concourse and the B/C concourse. But it can be a rather intense visual and audio experience. Take a look:
I tend to walk at an even faster clip to whatever music is playing and, most travel days, enjoy the fun they are trying to create.
Warning Notice DTW
But there are days I am traveling with say a major headache that this is a less than fun experience. If this is you, or maybe your young ones find it too intense, you can turn it off for your transition between concourses.
Look to the right of stairs
On your way down, just the right of the bottom of the stairs (also just outside the elevator doors), there is button.
5 minute off button
Pressing this will turn off the sound and light show for 5 minutes – more than enough time for you to make it from one end to the other before it starts back up again.
Light & sound show off!
Personally I would like this media show to be a bit less intense. They can use a more soothing and calmer sound and light choices that would comfort travelers. What do you think? Do you like the upbeat and strong show or would your like something else or simply to be always turned off? – René

Personally I enjoy it. I feel like I’m going through Willy Wonka’s psychedelic boat ride. I also enjoy the tunnel at ORD and it’s soothing “Rapsody In Blue.”
Always a nightmare for many with sensory disorders. I see people that turn it off frequently. Can you turn the creep show off in Atlanta too? Thankfully it doesn’t bother me, but it seriously bothers others.
It doesn’t bother me. I will actually be walking through it in a couple of hours. But if I had a migraine, it would seriously make me even more physically ill. So yeah, I would definitely turn it off then.
I would not begrudge anyone for turning it off. We have no idea what kinds of sensory triggers people have.
I love it! It always puts me in a good mood. I don’t think it is too intense and am always disappointed when it isn’t on. Now I know why. Maybe I’ll just wait the 5 minutes if I’m not in a hurry.
Its awesome and I enjoy it! However, it seems like a lot of people have found the off button and that last 3 times that I have connected here we have not been able to enjoy it. Lets keep this button a secret!

Anyone turning that amazing experience off better have Tourette’s. If they turn it off because the have a headache, we have a problem.
Crank up the sound and lights to 70’s disco. Kool and the Gang, the Bee Gees, and KC and the Sunshine Band!

I like it. It is good that it can be turned off for people with a problem. I didn’t know that.
