Thanks to a reader who was on the flight I have a rather disturbing video to share showing a woman dragged off Delta flight 2083 from Detroit to San Diego today December 12th, 2016. I was told that:
“She didn’t check in with gate agent and walked right on. [The] woman blew by gate agent and didn’t check in because she wasn’t an early boarder and deserved overhead bin space. Colleague in back by her said she was mouthy and had a huge attitude. Police tackled her out of her seat and brought her to the ground. Not sure how she was subdued, some people speculated a taser.”
.
UPDATE: Per Delta spokesman Anthony Black – “Delta flight 2083 DTW to SAN incurred a slight departure delay due to a passenger not complying with boarding and baggage check procedures. The passenger was removed by local law enforcement and the flight was able to continue. Addition questions should be directed to airport law enforcement.”

“You are now free to be dragged about the cabin.”
@Mi_SAT: Hahahahahahahahahaha. Nice.
Dang. You know what’s way cheaper than bail? A Delta American Express card that guarantees Zone 1 boarding AND your first checked bag free! Heck, this one offense will cost her so much that she could’ve gotten the Reserve card and scored herself several years of SkyPub access, too.
Not sure what is disturbing? How else do you propose to get her off the plane if she will not do so under her own power? Cripple the officer when he tries to carry her like a sack of potatoes?
How can you tell this is from a regular visitor of the blog?
C+, but not in the middle seat!
would the video have been better in the wide screen mode ?
( hold the phone sideways for full screen)
This is a great idea. ‘Survivor Delta’. Before push back, the passengers get to vote one person off the plane. “The passengers have voted, it is time for you to leave.”
Banned for life? Oh wait.. Not a political event..
wow all involved could have been hurt–they should have gotten a trauma board and got her off (so she cannot complain they hurt her neck or back later) or their backs…ouch
Total disregard for humanity. Once she settles down in her seat along with her belongings, she should be allowed to stay, just like those illegal aliens who speaks into the country and getting their “due” benefits. The hypocritical 2-face action is why so many people(ps. citizens) wanted to leave the country now.
This is really just kind of sad to watch. Whatever happened to her to bring on this sort of behavior and that all these people had to experience it and be inconvenienced by it. Just sad.
What exactly is “rather disturbing” about this video. Did the police have any other option here? She forced herself onto the plane, and then would not leave. Who knows what devices she had on her. Should they have entered into hours of negotiation and bargaining to get her off?
@Bob & others – To me it is disturbing for this to happen to anyone. It is sad. This could be someone you love and care about. I hope she it OK and gets the help she clearly needs!
Chris C is right. Amex could solve her issue, but not her attitude. Frustrating situation for the rest of the passengers.
She was not cooperating. I am fairly certain that she was given multiple opportunities by both the airline gate attendant, flight attendants, and police to comply, but she refused. Otherwise, this would have been a non event. She is the one responsible for this outcome. What were the police supposed to do, Shoot her with a tranquilizer dart and take her out of the back of the plane? If she had followed the rules like every other passenger on this flight, I would doubt this would have happened. She assumed the rules didn’t apply to her. She chose unwisely.
Hi my name is Raquel with ABC7 Los Angeles. Did you shoot this video? If so , may we have permission to air this across our ABC platforms?
@Raquel – You may use it but please credit RenesPoints.com
Wow! Dragged across the floor! Not sure what’s worse, her being dragged like a sack of potatoes or the passengers finding humor in this and laughing!
Some jail time should help. Spend a while learning the simple process of boarding a plane, maybe. I like that the others on the flight were not getting upset, but just laughed at her .
As soon as I ready #16 above I just knew national news would follow… and it has.
Good luck Delta….
I really like the guy calmly eating his peanuts!
OK, all seriousness and PC correctness aside, raise your hands if you are so stupid as to not obey a flight crew and/or LEO? Show of hands please!!
@Dave, is it necessary to bring illegal immigrants to this topic which is completely unrelated?
As far as the actual incident, I don’t know if dragging her out of the plane was the only solution but it is not just dangerous but also humiliating. We do not know the circumstances, let’s not judge until we know all the facts. Also, I have witness all kinds of behavior in airplanes. Even in first class during a trip to Cancun a woman did not stop yelling and laughing her even after others told her to please allow people to relax without her yelling and noises (she was drinking and started to yell once the flight attendant refused to keep serving her alcohol). People do stupid things for many different reasons, while some do it just because they like to be idiots, others do things because of health and circumstances out of their control.
Perhaps the woman was upset and wanted to go home to someone. Seeing her being dragged that way is upsetting.
It was Bush’s fault 😉
@DDiamond – Let’s keep all politics out of this one please. Have dumped tons off topic comments already here and on Youtube. Thanks! – Rene
Rene said: “To me it is disturbing for this to happen to anyone.”
If you board an aircraft without checking in, you are imperiling the flight crew and other passengers. There is no way for them to determine whether you simply feel entitled to board the plane (as reported) or whether you intend to cause harm to others and are covering up your tracks as you do so (i.e., by not providing proper identification).
If, when called out on this refusal to comply with a *very simple request* (i.e., please show your ticket and check in), and then you refuse to leave the plane when requested, you are imperiling the law enforcement officials brought in to remove you.
So, yes, I am also disturbed that she thoughtlessly endangered so many others. I am sorry for all the harm she caused to other people who are also loved and cared about.
I think there’s a disconnect here. What I believe Rene is saying is that you can both believe that certain actions and precautions need to be taken, but that you can also be disturbed by those actions. The tasing of a mentally disabled man by NYPD which resulted in the man falling to his death may have been necessary but was surely disturbing. These things aren’t mutually exclusive.
@Heather – I am not finding ANY fault with Delta or the Police here. It is just disturbing the way it had to go. No one wants to depart an aircraft this way – ever!
Completely agree Rene.
Let’s give the law enforcement officers the benefit of the doubt and say they offered her the chance to WALK off the plane peacefully. She chose otherwise. I agree with those who say it’s disturbing to watch and humiliating to the woman. I don’t know if she deserved it, I wasn’t there. But I doubt the police officers involved would have listed “drag the suspect up the narrow aisle of an aircraft” as the preferred way to remove her. This lady being dragged off the aircraft is the direct result of her actions and nothing more.
If this woman would not, or could not ambulate herself down the aisle, what is to be done? She HAD to be removed from the plane and checked out. What about the other passengers who may have had issues and been upset, were traveling because of a death, illness, etc., yet managed to behave appropriately? If her behavior was this bad prior to takeoff, who is to say it would not have worsened once the plane was in the air? She simply had to go, and is not by walking on her own, then in the manner in which she was removed. I seriously doubt she was injured in any way, and thank goodness, she was not going to become a threat to fellow passengers once she was off the plane.
Renee, Can we have your permission to run upload this to our website Star-Telegram.com?
@Jared – As long as you link back in in the text to this post yes and you mention RenesPoints.com in any video use yes you have my permission to use it as you want to across your platforms.
