What will happen to the old Delta B Sky Clubs? A Centurion club maybe? I found out!

There were two Delta Sky Clubs in the B concourse at Atlanta’s ATL airport, that is the smaller club near B10 gates and the much larger upstairs one near B25. Both of these have now been replaced with the new mega B club in the center of the concourse.

The new club has proven very popular. So popular that when I was there at about 8 PM this past Wednesday night the soup and dessert buffet was, well, you can see by the photo above.

old-closed-delta-b25-gate-area-sky-club-renespoints-blog-2

But what about the old clubs? First off they are now closed and as you can see by a peek in the door they have started to dismantle the space from being a Sky Club.

That brings up the question as to what will happen to the old club space both at B10 and the larger space here at B25 because the latter really is a nice large room. To me it could become the perfect space for an AMEX Centurion Club to come in to the ATL airport for us to enjoy. Just think how nice it would be to have a club with great food and a space in Atlanta!

Unfortunately it does not look like this will happen at least not with either of these two locations. The B10 club really is way too small anyway and a Delta CORP representative told me that the B10 club will be turned back to the airport for concession space and the lower room at B25 the same. However, Delta will retain the upper space for their use.

Rats (I say)!

Again, I really would have loved to have seen some other 3rd party lounge enter that space. While I am not privy to the particulars it could be that Delta has a longer term commitment to the B25 space or that they are even strategically thinking it would be smarter to keep it than allow another club to enter that space – again both are just speculation on my part.

What do you think? Are the 9 Sky Clubs, plus THE CLUB at ATL as well as the AA lounge at ATL more than enough lounge space already in Atlanta or could there be room for even more? You tell me – René

Not sure if anyone could build a Centurion lounge big enough at ATL. Delta rules ATL. AMEX and Delta are essentially connected. ATL is the busiest airport IN THE WORLD. Lounge would be overrun unless they built out like Turkish did at IST:)

The Club at ATL is my favorite US Lounge. Easily. Good. Location. And Service. I would only vote for a Centurion if the Club at ATL stated getting too crowded.

Yeah, but The Club is in the international (F) concourse, so really not an option for domestic traveler unless you have a very long layover. As an Atlantan, I’d be so excited if there was a centurion club in A-D, I’d actually get a Plat card.

Not renewing with Delta this year and going all Centurion (because you get two free guests). So I agree and wish they added one as well.

It’s a crying shame we don’t have a centurion lounge in Atlanta. The premier in American lounge experiences and they are not in the busiest airport in America. I feel they owe a duty but as someone atat d above it would have to be at least as big as the 500 seat Delta B lounge as 1 centurion lounge for Amex cardholders would command easily 2x, 4x or more the customers than Delta specific lounges with 9 airport spots.

I’ve visited the new B lounge twice. Both times it was extremely busy. The second time it took almost 10 minutes to get checked in the line was so long. Just to wait another 5-10 minutes for a drink. I wonder if it will eventually slow down once the newness wears off or if this is the new norm for the B concourse. If so, would love to see an alternative club there.

For B25, how about a conference center similar to what AA has in ORD and DFW?
