We have been watching it grow for quite some time now and anyone who has been to the soon to be closed B10 Sky Club or B25 Sky Clubs will be overjoyed to be able to visit the best lounge in the Delta system. This club is stunning.

You can get in with a number of AMEX cards or, if you are a Skyteam elite plus status and are on a coach or anyone on a business class international departing (or connecting) ticket, you can also get in free.

The Entrance could not be more convenient right at the central hub of the B concourse and right at the top of the escalators. Delta’s CEO Ed Bastian during the media event suggested it could be the busiest location in all of the travel world (or something to that effect).

This club is, as you can see from the top shot, up in the clouds. Well maybe that is a little bit of an exaggeration, but you will get a good workout up the stairs or enjoy the elevator up two floors (three from the tarmac level).

But if you are willing to either hike up or down the stairs you will enjoy some nice art work and Avgeek stuff worth the time to enjoy.

At the top of the stairs, or the elevators (there are two) you first walk down a long corridor until you get to a split desk check-in. I would hope this setup will allow both streamlined entrance into the club and, to the side, others who need help with ticket issues.

I prefer split counters but we shall see how this works out. At least it is a somewhat separated space.

Much like the SFO Sky Club there is much detail given to art and you will see inspiration from that club throughout the club but with a softer hand. Also just before you enter the club itself you have a bank of flight monitors.

Then you walk into a massively large room. I know in the architectural world “open plan” is all the buzz, but this club takes it to a new level as all of it is one massive room.

Let’s go on a tour of the lounge seating and space (and views). First off, either side of the club has just a remarkable wall of glass. I have a feeling they will have shades down much of the time to keep it cool but my, are the views stunning as you will see. The seats, while modern, are very comfortable. Well these are.

And these are also very comfortable and a sweet space for a couple or even if you are sitting by a stranger they are large enough for privacy. If only C+ seats were this big we would be happy with the upgrade 🙂

One thing you will notice on the seats above, and the table above, is power is everywhere. Delta gets that we are all power hogs and want outlets.

New Delta Sky Club ATL Atlanta Airport B concorse RenesPoints blog reveiw (19)

There are a few of these conference tables that remind me very much of the ones in the SFO AMEX Centurion Lounge (did they go for a a visit to compare? – maybe).

You also have a bunch more of these type chargers with power between them and they are also very comfortable.

Then we have a number of these chairs. Let me tell you there is simply no way to sit and be comfortable. They are the worst and to be avoided. Period.

At both ends you have some work space. No dividers so you had better have your own 3M GOLD screens if you do not want your neighbor seeing what you are working on. What may be much more distracting to keep you from working is the amazing Avgeek views of aircraft coming, going, landing or taking off. I can see many day dreams and “fake” work.

The other end of the lounge is not a mirror of the other side but similar. Maybe a bit more open seating.

On to the bar area in the center of the club. It is modern and impressive. It is clearly built to drive sales of premium drinks including again a wine serving area that is temperature and pour controlled like the AMEX Centurion SFO but here, rather than being included, every drop will cost you. Please just don’t ever flush your SkyMiles on these drinks. Then again, I would just go for the house drinks and beer as it is costly enough to enter to begin with.

Now on to food. I would put the food similar to the offering in the E and F clubs. Decent and much improved over other Sky Clubs with ultra basic snacks but still not up to the level of other clubs like the AMEX Centurion that really is the domestic mark to beat.

New Delta Sky Club ATL Atlanta Airport B concorse RenesPoints blog reveiw (33)

The bathroom has the updated modern sinks that do move water away from you in a nice way but to me are a bit uncomfortable. Maybe it is just me.

The views, and movement of the sun around the club, are truly amazing. You need to spend much time here just to enjoy what the club offers you. It is just amazing.

There is no Sky Deck as was at first planned nor are there any showers at this club so E and F clubs will be where you want to go if you need one. Also, since soon now both of the other B clubs will closed I can see this club being quite crowded and even more so for a while as this location still has that “new club smell”!

I very much like this club and will make my way here quite often when not at either E of F. I love the views and like the open feel. I hope you can go check it out – I think you will be impressed. – René

Curious, did you received and invitation or how did you get to go to the inauguration?

I can understand no showers, as it’s a domestic concourse, but NO DECK?!! That’s one of the best things about F club! LOVE the deck.

    Sigh. #disappointed

PS – that chair you didn’t like looks like the one I used in Chicago last week… impossible to comfortably type on a laptop. Fail.

    @René,

When I was at the FLL club and talking to the staff how everything is now open and no more packages of stuff (like dressing, yogurt, etc) that someone may want to snag for a snack on their flight, I was told that Delta had hired a team from the Ritz Carlton when doing the revamp of the club’s offerings. Not sure if they are part of the club’s physical redesigns as well.
