This one can make your head hurt when you think about the timing. You are basically living on a jet for 24 hours and I would strongly suggest considering Global Upgrades if you have them (both ways) with a HT to TFD for the find.
You depart Monday night and return to LAX Tuesday night with all the time changes. I would think 1.5-ish hours is enough to clear customs in Japan and turn back later that night (early next AM). Feel free to comment below if that in NOT enough time in HND if you have been there.
Here are the numbers in coach:

I have included the Google Flights or Kayak links and for those of you new to this, 1st log in to your Delta.com SkyMiles account and THEN you click the above links and it will, after you choose flights, send them over to Delta.com. Very simple! – René

At NRT, there are no customs or passport control for connecting passengers. It’s literally 10 minutes, at most, from jet bridge through airport security to the Delta transfer desk and Sky Club.
@FNT – This is for HND not for NRT.
Plenty of time – great find Rene
I did this exact turn in December without issue. The inbound plane is the outbound plane, so if you’re delayed coming, you should be fine for the return. However, expect some extra security screening at the gate – we got questioned politely about our travel plans and why we would make such a trip. But since we were honest, they didn’t have any concerns. But just plan for that.
@Drew – Thanks so much for your input! I am really thinking about this one 🙂
I like the MQM total of this, but I’m not sure I could do 24 hours in Y (No GUCs here). I got sick after my last MR, even though I drank lots of fruit juice and stuff. Winter MRs haven’t been all that kind to me, health-wise.
Rene if you are going to do this one you may as well stay a day or more! on stopover and get some value out of trip as well – assuming fare is similar…one heck of a city & from HND you are short monorail ride from amazing times.
