As I blogged about the promo that is in fact open to everyone has posted now to my SkyMiles account (now that my Delta AMEX card statement has generated). #TRAVELTIP: I called and had my statement close date set for the 1st of the month and you can request this or any other date in the month you want.
All I did was stay at an SPG hotel, on points naturally, but paid for my only expense to stay there that was a $5 tip I had charged to my room from my complimentary breakfast as an SPG Platinum. So I thus triggered the promo by meeting two of the requirements on $5 charge (an SPG charge and a Delta AMEX card charge). I personally value my SkyMiles at 1.5-2 cents each so I made a few bucks on the promo. Not life changing but simple is good right?
The SkyBonus bug I blogged about has been fixed according to readers. My meager few SkyBonus points now orphaned, since I did not get the promised 10k SkyBouns points from my survey Delta promised to give me, still remain so I would guess you can try to get your remaining points out if you have not done so yet. It seems they are holding off a few more days to dump so many loyal small business owners out.
A reader gave me a real scare in the ASK RENE section of the blog yesterday talking about awards and married segment logic and suggesting that some new updates had loaded preventing this. Well we know reps will say anything so it is always good to test. As you can see the Delta search page says only 80k awards a.k.a. LEVEL 2 awards are open. However, when you click on dates the lower 62,5k pops up and reps can still book when I find segment by segment LEVEL 1 awards (see E0 & E7 posts). This is not to say that worse is on the way and I fully expect Delta to make it harder and harder for us to string segment by segment LEVEL 1 awards into one. Always remember they are working to fleece you of your points, not help you to spend them with value!

Any idea if amex transfer counts as a ‘partner’?
@Diego – I think no but read the terms. There are so many ways to make this simple
in some of my reservations,it says that flight times have been change you may alter your lights, at no cost of for some extra? when i called delta to re route, which was better fro them, they stated they wanted a fee? my route was OGG/LAX/ATL/Man, so I wished OGG/SEA/ATL, same flight to Manchester, the fare was $90 less,but i would have had more. mqm, they said $200 fee to re ticket.? when asked delta stated, it was only a 50 min, change, and it needs 90mins to alter?as aPlatinum member, I.ll look on the day
@Craig – HUCB http://renespoints.boardingarea.com/2014/07/21/hucb-dont-take-no-for-an-answer/
In my experience, they change flight times constantly and post that message. But it’s very misleading because the change is usually just 3 or 5 minutes and it has to be 90 or more (in most cases, connections possibly excepted) for the free change. I wish they would be more specific with that message.
@mbh – No, it is not 90 minutes, it is 60 no matter what a reps says. See this post: http://renespoints.boardingarea.com/2012/10/09/understanding-the-power-of-the-mighty-schedule-change-rule-with-delta-air-lines/
