I am not a high end hotel kinda of guy. Don’t get me wrong, I like fancy hotels but I try to spend as little time in a hotel as I can. I am all about the trip and where I am going. I would rather spend points on 1st class flights and then enjoy wherever I am going – a hotel is for some work, sleep and maybe breakfast.

Four Points by Sheraton Minneapolis Airport (5)

The SPG Four Points by Sheraton MSP is not a high end hotel, but you know what, there is more than meets the eye at this hotel. They have nice suites and even their standard room was OK as you will see (I did not get upgraded as a Platinum guest).

I really like the Four Points concept. To me this is a Holiday Inn express all grown up.

Social and computer areas seem very popular and the TV has an impressive sound system if you happened to be there to watch a sporting event etc.

The pool area was locked but seemed nice.

The workout room has lots of machines (I really need to start spending some time in these rooms when out and about).

Breakfast, as a Platinum was free as one of my choices (one night I picked points, another the breakfast). The chef was making omelets, fresh waffles and more. The fruit was fresh and good. Love that.

Four Points by Sheraton Minneapolis Airport king room (3)

My room was fine other than the fact it was tiny. Clean, fast wifi and free wifi.

The work area was clean and had ports for power and USB easily accessible. Love that.

The bathroom followed the room theme. Clean, all the stuff I needed, just tiny.

Other bits. The shuttle is free and runs often. You should call when you arrive at the airport if you are carry-on and request ASAP or if you have luggage as soon as it arrives. It runs round the clock back to the airport just be sure to request a time. It does take about 15 minutes each way so plan for that. They also run a free shuttle to the mall of American.

For 3-4k SPG points I consider this a good value for MSP. Not right at the airport, but for value and features a solid choice. – René

    Rene,

I’m glad you got to check out the hotel. It could be the best deal for the points at the MSP airport. I have used this hotel for the last 2 years to keep my Platinum status with SPG. I would say your review is spot on. My only 2 concerns is distance from the airport and small bathroom. Both of those concerns are very minor.

If you are looking for other program options there are a few Club Carlson properties at the Mall of America and until June1 offers great 2 day redemptions and finally Marriott has several options too. The best is the Mendota Courtyard for 15,000 with a shuttle to the mall or the airport.

Thanks for the blog and keep up the good work.

    Jonathan
