Here is a neat little tip for those of us who like Starbucks. Did you know if you go buy, at face value (and if you buy it at say OfficeMax with a Ink card you earn 5x points), and then you sign up for the Starbucks loyalty program you can get a free drink?
Yep! It really is that simple. You do need to have the gift card in hand when you sign-up to get the perk and you can use any Starbucks gift card even a cheap $10 one. You do have to opt in for their marketing e-mails but you can opt-out after you get the code.
Then, in a day or so, you will get an email with a code you can print out for a free drink. That is not a bad deal at all. The only catch is you need to redeem the coupon at a “real” Starbucks store not one in say a grocery store and you will have a limited time to redeem the free drink. But still, free is free right! – René

You may not even have to buy a gift card and sign up to receive a free Starbucks beverage.
I’ve seen my regular Starbucks receipt have that same invitation to sign up just for having made a regular (nonStarbucks card) purchase.
So, buy a drink or anything at Starbucks, sign up, and earn a free Starbucks beverage with the invitation instructions on a receipt.
