It’s here. 50,000 SkyMiles burned to fly FIRST class from South Bend International (SBN). Those are words I have LONGED to hear for decades of travel from my home town airport and today is the day it begins as a regularly scheduled flight.
You can follow along on Twitter and see each step along the way HERE!
Now I do think it is funny that Delta has chosen to put a CRJ700 on the shortest of the routes they fly from SBN. After all, despite the scheduled 1 hr & 5 min flight it is not much more than 30 minutes in the air – maybe why it is 100% on time 😉 .
I hope the MUCH longer SBN to Atlanta and the SBN to Minneapolis routes soon get CRJ700 services as well since these routes are not much fun on a CRJ200!
Anyway, I hope there is cake and balloons and tons of fan fair at the airport but I expect things will be as they always are at SBN today, that is nice local folks, good service and oh 1st class service to Detroit today! – René .

I didn’t realize you could fly from South Bend to Atlanta on a CRJ 200. Dang. That’s miserable. I have to fly from Flint to Minneapolis occasionally on it. That’s pretty bad. Thankfully, the Flint to Atlanta flights are on a MD-88 or MD-90, which is a fine aircraft. Delta typically flies a plane with first-class from Midland-Bay City-Saginaw to Detroit as well. I really, really wish Delta would revive Flint to Detroit as I’m sick of flying in and out of Atlanta.
