Some Delta news updates & welcome to the “wall of weird”

I have come across some very strange and interesting news bits as of late. Many regarding Delta and some just strange and “wall of weird” worthy I would say. Normally I just put up the links and let you check them out. This time I want to share some thoughts that caught my attention.

So on to one my greatest phobia. Spiders. Hate them (irrationally so). A spider bite that could cause your flesh to die (ie necrosis)? And spider bit you on a Delta flight? I totally get it is much safer to be up in the air than in a car but dang this one gives me the heebie-jeebies. Read all about it and the $80,000 the passenger got from Delta HERE.

Great news. The airline that wants to keep us flying on 50 seat CRJ’s for the next 25 years, and has been giving huge raises to the top brass,  has a NEW CEO! Maybe this one will listen to Delta and add more 700 & 900’s that are totally OK to fly. You can see the info about the new guy HERE.

More good news (well sorta). You can now shop for all your favorite Skyteam partner KLM’s related paraphernalia at their newly launched web site you can check out HERE. You can not buy the Jonge Bols grain genever and will just have to keep picking them as an award redemption for business class to get your free little bolt house filled with the nummy liquid inside. (btw this could be fun, click the link and enjoy the bird chirps and turn you speakers up high and watch your “cube mates” look around for how the sparrows got inside your building 🙂 )

When Delta swallowed up merged with NWA, many were concerned about the impact on the now former NWA hub cities vs Atlanta. With so much consolidating taking place to ATL, many of those concerns seem to have been well founded as you can see HERE.

OK. So the above I will not comment on other than saying “oh no, please, no”! Anyone fly on the Czech ATR’s? As bad as I think?

So this one is not Delta / Skyteam related. But have you ever been on a plane hit by lightning? SAS had a bad storm recently and sent planes back after hits HERE (safely I might add). It does make for an interesting Google search result when you look for Delta jets hit by lightning.

The last one for today is all about MSP & iPads you can see HERE. This is interesting to me when thinking about AVOD in general moving forward. Entertainment systems are heavy and cost a ton of fuel to fly back and forth. Just how much longer until we all have our own or Delta just hands out pre-loaded iPads to those who want them during the flight.

So on this day in history that we will never ever forget, that wraps up my news bits I have found interesting this month. Are there any Delta news stories you found that were interesting to you? Or, any thoughts about my Delta/Award Wallet post? Please comment below and include the URL link! – René

Just discovered this blog. Good stuff!

BTW: KLM [edit]! Instead of creating new sites for passengers to purchase their product, or see who’s seated next to them via social media, they should upgrade their reservations system, and find a way to get my husband his [edit] special meal request. We fly KLM regularly out of DMM or BAH. We’re both platinum elite and fly business class 50% of the time of KLM. It doesn’t matter what we do, they NEVER get his meal request. And, they have some of the worst food ever for international business class passengers. Even though they [edit] as an airline (IMHO) I still collect their houses. 🙂 http://www.blackchickontour.com/amsterdam-and-porcelain-houses/

I have flown as a passenger on one of the CSA Czech Airlines ATR-72 aircraft, René — and although I do not particularly enjoy riding on that aircraft, the experience was just fine. If I remember correctly, the flight was from Prague to Venice, and the aircraft was practically empty except for a few passengers. If you are a premium class passenger, you sit towards the back of the cabin where the exit is located and receive a meal — but otherwise, everything else seems to be basically the same experience as being a passenger in the economy class cabin. There is not even a curtain separating the “cabins.”
