Frequent Floaters has reached a milestone – 1 year of posts! It’s been an interesting year for us, and hopefully you have enjoyed what we have shared. Let’s see what was most popular, shall we?

Seemingly appropriate as it seems like people are coughing everywhere you go these days, was this post from April : Cruise Lines Are Recommending Masks Again – Would You Mask Up or Cancel a Cruise if Mandated? After returning from our last 2 trips with a “souvenir illness” we did not enjoy, Lisa and I are wearing masks more now than we have in many months. Sure, it’s uncomfortable and somewhat of a nuisance, but you know what is more uncomfortable and a nuisance? Being sick! We get that there are times when you have travel planned that you cannot change or cancel and then you come down with something. Please think of others though and wear a mask if you are coughing, sneezing or running a fever!

My quest for blissful sleep onboard scored this spot in our top ten with : The Absolute Craziest Thing I Bring On A Cruise – But I Would Not Cruise Without It! This mattress topper has been to many, many places and while the crew always are amazed when we get the thing out and put it on the bed, they are even more amazed when we pack it back up at how small it gets inside the vacuum bag!

From our guy onboard you seemed to enjoy reading about : The Quickest Ways to Get Thrown Off Your Cruise – Even Banned for Life! We clearly always recommend being a “good guest” and not doing any of these things! Perhaps it’s simply good to be informed of how seriously the cruise lines takes certain things.

Another insiders view post from our guy onboard to open a window into crew life onboard. Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Crew Life On A Cruise Ship (Part 1) was informative and gave us a glimpse of everything from crew cabins to laundry to special snacks! Some guests may never even notice crew members while onboard. Others of us enjoy getting to know the crew members we interact with and even develop friendships that last long after disembarkation!

Nearly halfway through the list we have : Is It Worth It to Pay For Norwegian Cruise Lines Priority Access Program of Are Other Options Better? Interesting perks for those without loyalty status that grants many of the same perks anyway. Did you come to the same conclusion on this service that I did?

The global trends with a warmer planet have had many consequences, but it seems many of you were interested in this one in particular. Drought Causing Panama Canal Cruise Cancellations? This is still on my bucket list, and considering how many river cruises I have heard about that had to resort to putting guests on buses because of low water levels I will plan to do my homework when I do eventually book this cruise!

I am not a huge fan of fish for dinner, but I do enjoy fishing! I can’t say I ever considered it while on a cruise unless it was on a shore excursion! Angler Banned for Life From Carnival Cruise Lines After Fishing From Balcony and Posted to TikTok It seems the saying is true, that you just can’t make some people smart!

Number 3
What to wear? It’s an age old dilemma we all go through and it seems the expectations onboard are fraught with questions that our RCI expert did his best to answer : The Royal Caribbean Dining Dress Code – Do’s and Dont’s was your 3rd favorite post of the year so we hope it helped with your packing!

Number 2
Rough seas are nothing to joke about and conditions onboard can turn dangerous quickly as guests are reminded almost daily while onboard. She Can’t Get Her Kid! Terrifying Videos Show Chairs Flying and People Falling When Apparent Squall Strikes Cruise Ship shows why you must always be aware while at sea, even while in port!

They say it’s all fun and games until somebody goes to jail. Woman Takes Family on $22,425 Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas Cruise and Lands in Jail shows that you can’t blame a mom for wanting to give her family a once in a lifetime cruise vacation, but committing multiple felonies to do it? We can show you there are so many better ways to enjoy cruising!
What an exciting first year for Frequent Floaters. I also thought it would be fun to share some of the data bits for this new adventure. Most of the “big blogs” here on BoardingArea.com are having north of a million page views per months (some many many millions) but my goal was much more modest for a cruise focused blog. I was hopping to hit 1000 views per day or around 365,000 views for the year. Did we hit that? Not quite as we ended up with just over 1/3 of a million views.
Clearly at these levels the blog is not a “real job” or a money maker for myself or the other authors helping so very much to post quality cruise related content. So can we continue? I am going to give this another year and see as the support I have from the Frequent Floater team is simply amazing.
I also would appreciate it if you would consider using our credit card affiliate partner when you do go for new travel cards, as that is what we need in 2024 to push to the next level.
Overall it has been a fun ride and with so many fun cruises booked for the coming year I do look forward to sharing with you all what an amazing experience spending so much time at sea can be! – René
