Royal Caribbean has really turned up the heat with the announcement that it is expanding its Royal Beach Club concept to Mexico with the introduction of a new beach club in Cozumel in 2026. While not a “private island” experience, the Royal Beach Club will offer exciting new options for cruise vacationers with a private club style experience in one of the busiest ports for cruise traffic in the world.
The new beach club will feature dedicated pools, multiple bar options, private cabanas, and of course plenty of beach access for your favorite water activities. There’ll be plenty of dining options and my personal favorites, tequila tastings and cooking classes!! OK…really just tequila tasting.
Why This Matters
More options are always better. Having been on 52 cruises, many of them with stops in Cozumel, I find the island to be friendly and beautiful. A beach day is just what the doctor ordered for me, and the fact that I can take that beach day at a club where I’m likely to be able to use my beverage package has some attractiveness. We’ll have to wait and see what actually takes shape, and how you get from the ship to the club, but if this is a private club with private access that allows guests to safely walk there or take a private shuttle, it’s going to prove attractive for many families and solo travelers alike.
Also, let’s be honest, while there are big costs in opening one of these clubs, there are big financial benefits to the cruise line by keeping guests spending money with them, and not other alternatives in port.
In the end, the new Royal Beach Club in Cozumel is a way’s off with a 2026 opening, but you can look at developments at Perfect Day to get some idea of what the experience will be like. And let’s not forget about the Royal Beach Club coming to Paradise Island in the Bahamas either!!
What do you think of the Royal Beach Club concept?

Huge fan of this. Can’t wait!
Meh.
Cozumel is a small, sleepy and generally safe port with good local beach clubs/beaches as it is. Part of the fun for us is renting a car for the day and exploring the island, including the undeveloped eastern coast.
I don’t see anywhere near the existing piers that they can build this thing (no sandy beaches there), so a shuttle ride will be involved. I’d also wager that there will be a charge just to get in, and additional charges for anything else you want after you get in. Highly doubtful that your ship-based drink package will work in there. Cozumel wouldn’t approve of the plan if it meant less money being spent by cruisers on the island.
All that said, if they could somehow engineer a situation like in Grand Turk where you take a brief stroll down the pier and then can immediately plop down on a world-class beach…that I’d be interested in!
