The Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card is the entry point to the Delta card family — and the price of admission is zero. There’s no annual fee (Rates & Fees), no credits to track, and no spending thresholds to hit. It earns 2X on eligible Delta and restaurant purchases, which covers the two categories most Delta travelers actually spend on. What it doesn’t have: free checked bags, TakeOff 15, a Companion Certificate, MQD Headstart, or any of the statement credits that come with the premium cards. For an occasional Delta flyer who wants to accumulate SkyMiles without a fee commitment, it does the job. If you fly Delta more than a few times a year and check bags, the math tilts quickly toward the Gold card.
