One of the negative things about most cruise ships is finding any kind of private-ish space to lay out in the sun. Depending on the ship there are spots to go with less people but accomplishing this could result in less service from the bar staff and so on.
If you have booked on a ship that has a real “Haven” space you will have access to a very nice area with padded lounge chairs and outstanding service from the Haven attendants. But the Haven is not cheap.
The cheaper alternative, with flexibility, is to buy a pass for the Vibe (or Posh on Epic) Beach club. You can pay for single days or a pass for the entire cruise. Take a look what NCL tells us about the space:
“Another adults-only option for sun decks is Vibe Beach Club. The Vibe Beach Club is open to everyone. However, it requires a pass to enter. Vibe Beach Club is available on select Norwegian ships, with a limited number of passes sold for each sailing. This way, the club never feels crowded. Get a day pass or splurge on a cruise duration pass.
You’ll have padded loungers, complimentary chilled towels, whirlpools, water spritzer, fruit skewers, and endless ocean views. There’s a bar serving up delicious and refreshing cocktails. You can also rent a cabana each day or for the duration of your cruise at Vibe Beach Clubs on Breakaway Class ships.”
It is worth keeping in mind that PR1MA ships and Epic also have these clubs so the post is a bit out of date.
What about the cost. As of today’s post you can expect to pay $99 per person per day with a highly discounted rate for a week long sailing $200-250 range and a bit more for longer sailings.
So is it worth it? Take a look at a video comparison of both the Vibe Beach club vs. the other adults only similar public area the Spice H20 space:
vs.
.
There are other drawbacks of Spice. As you saw in the video there is, on the far side of the space, a smoking section – yuck! As someone very sensitive to the smell of smoke, a large part of this space is unusable and that makes paying for a nonsmoking space well worth it.
.
For me, if I am not in the Haven, Vibe / Posh will be a space I want to pay for on warm sailings. To feel Haven like matters and a calm upgraded space matters.
To get this you either have to have your travel agent or NCL book this for you before your sailing. If not you need to board ASAP and find the space that is selling access to the club before they are all sold out. This is yet another reason to board first as I always do! – René

Worth the money for Vibe.
As a smoker I an not paying for a private space I can not smoke.
@Rex – Have fun on Spice H20 as I am thrilled Vibe is no smoking!
It’s very windy, so only take it on locations that are warm.
