We did manage to spend some time in the sun on this cruise on our amazing and huge wraparound balcony as you can see from the above shot! We also really enjoyed some of the entertainment onboard in the evenings on this long 14 day Atlantic crossing cruise.
After meeting Cam, our cruise director, early on the cruise it was fun to see him introduce most of the shows in the main theater.
This was a juggling/comedy variety show. Not only were they good at juggling, they were really funny. Even so I was happy not to have been selected to be up on stage with them.
There seemed to be a lot of build-up for this vocalist, so we went. He is clearly very talented, but his music is just not our kind of music. Mostly an OK performance for us.
There were several shows by the onboard talent and they were all really quite entertaining and fun. For one show they even brought in one of the bar crew to play bartender in the performance, and he seemed to really enjoy it and rose to the occasion.
We also attended several shows at the comedy club which offered shall we say kids approved PG shows as well as “adults only” shows later at night. It was clear that the comedians, of which there were several throughout the cruise, were true “Carnival” type performers and they all struggled with their clean version shows. When you’re funny you don’t need to use profanity or vulgarity to get laughs. We found most of the shows OK and a few of the comedians were really quite funny. After seeing their first shows, however, we found most did not bring much new material for subsequent shows so one and done. The club seemed pretty packed most of the times we were in there for the PG shows even in the middle of the day, but we were many days at sea so not that surprising.
Overall I would say this along with much of our experience onboard was surprisingly positive and while the talent was not as polished as I expect to find on say NCL or Royal Caribbean they were entertaining. – René
