High speed Internet is just everywhere now and even on most cruise ships so you can stay connected like at home. This means, if you want to, you can remote in to your work computer and get stuff done. With this kind of access there are some rules you need to be aware of.

Let’s start with one of the most obvious ones but one of the most common ones that make me and fellow guests just lose it – facetime or wifi type calls! You are not allowed to make these types of call on airlines for good reason and you should practice the same courtesy onboard unless you are in your own cabin. It is simply NOT ok to yell at your phone in the restaurants, bars, by the pool or even on your own balcony. Just don’t!
Closely related to that is ZOOM or TEAMS or similar calls on your phone or computer. If you have to make such a call, do it, like FaceTime, in the privacy of your own cabin or in an area of the ship where no one is (think a closed bar or similar space). If you have to spoil your vacation with work that is fine – just don’t include me.
Rocking your music is next up. You may think we all want to hear whatever moves you but we don’t. Even on your own balcony, if it is loud enough to bother the balcony next to you, it is just too darn loud.
TikTok videos. This may be one of the most maddening and irritating loud sounds that can destroy a cruise. Hearing 20 to 30-second, constantly changing, screaming clips makes my blood boil. If you are addicted to this social site you need to use ear buds or headphones!
Movies. This is one that can get you in trouble even in your own cabin. I have seen people run wires all over the cabin to create a media theater. Not only is this against the rules but can be so loud your next door neighbor can be bothered. If you have to do this, use Bluetooth speakers with magnets as the walls of your cabin are metal, but keep the sound levels at a reasonable level.
Bottom line is I get you are excited and want to fully enjoy your cruise vacation but so do the rest of us so be respectful and don’t be “that guy” who ruins others’ vacation. – Rene

Good reminder of basic plane etiquette. Small correct in the the title – I believe you mean “cognizant” not “cognitive”.
@Anthony – Yup. Thanks. Fixed.
