I think I melted this week. Holy cow was it hot and humid and ridiculous. Weeks like this remind me of why, even when warm, being at sea is so very nice. I did have a great week as one of my booked NCL cruises had a price change (due to the current sale) and the price dropped by over $1,100! Cha-Ching and a nice refund my way and why you always keep checking until you sail if prices have changed. But enough about me, on to this week’s blog posts:
It seems like all of the major high end travel cards are, as they say in the industry, refreshing. Chris has his take on what he thinks is in store for the Amex Platinum cards. Do you agree with his thinking?
Have you ever wondered how much your cruise ship crew are paid each month? Is there a reason there are so few Americans who work on cruise ships? Is it because the pay is so low? The numbers may surprise you and we have the income range this week.
AI or artificial intelligence is all over the news in 2025. It seems everyone wants to use AI to make more money or to cut staff so again the company makes more money. But did you know you can use AI to help you when things go wrong during your travels? Take a look how.
Coming off of my last cruise I had a chance to spend some time in the Miami Delta Sky Club. I was looking forward to a quiet calm visit before my flight home. Then what happened? A jerk “power walked” by me again and again and again on his phone – loudly! This is just one of my list of annoyances that fellow guests do in clubs. See if your pet peeve made my list!
Lastly this week, our man who works full time for a major cruise line, has his take of what is better a mega ship or a smaller ship. Both have their pro’s and con’s. See if you agree.
I hope you are having a great weekend and once again, if you are thinking of going for a new travel card, we so thank you for using our links as it is what keeps the light on so to speak. – René

Rene, how do you book your cruises? I usually book and pay at the time of reservation. If the price goes down, I’m stuck at the higher price – at least according to Norwegian. I would like to know how you get a lower price after booking if the fare is reduced.
Thank you, John in Arkansas
@John – I use NCL Casinos at Sea. Working on a new post to get discounts w/out gambling.
