Well this has been an interesting first half of the year so far including weather nightmares that seem to be disrupting everyone’s travels. Now that we are in Q3 my travels are picking up and I am looking forward to many reviews. But for now the week that was:
While still not confirmed it sure looks like Delta Air Lines will be coming out in the near future with a new ultra mega premium travel card likely with a yearly fee that will be equally out of this world. But what will be the name for that new card? We have a reader poll and see if you agree with the top responses.
I have had CLEAR along with TSA PreCheck for as long as both have existed. I do agree that CLEAR, at times, is not much faster than standard PreCheck but now CLEAR is trying to up-sell us on something new. Are you impressed?
I always say the best time to apply for a new travel card is either A) when you really need the points or better yet B) where there are HUGE new card bonus offers. There are a number of cards that simply have massive deals right now and I am applying for cards this weekend.
We have now had time to digest the fact that Carnival is going revenue based with their, ah hem, “loyalty” program. I don’t think anyone is impressed and the anger over the changes is still very much real. It will be interesting what impact this has on passenger bookings. But you know in the travel space it is often “monkey see monkey do” and Royal Caribbean may just copy what Carnival has done? Our RCI guy MJ has his take on it all.
Speaking of cruise ships – do you know there are real dangers that can impact you? There are so many small things that can, not just ruin your cruise, but have life changing impacts. Take a look at some of these warnings and how to avoid them.
Lastly this week Chris covers a neat topic I bet most of us never pay attention to and that is how airport runways get their names and numbers. Who knew!
I hope you are having a fantastic weekend and enjoying summer as fall is now just around the corner (football anyone?)! – René
