Reaching Platinum status with Norwegian Cruise Lines Latitudes Rewards loyalty program opens up sweet benefits. For example, you no longer “need” to arrive ultra early to your ship as you will not be in a low “group number” to board the ship anymore. No, you may board first with the rest of the elites with status above and equal to yours. This is a huge perk and why reaching this level is so worth the accomplishment.
The other big perk (in addition to a number of small ones) is two free specialty dinner nights and one of them includes a bottle of wine. For as long as I can remember this perk was restricted, as you can see above currently still showing in the NCL app, to a few restaurants per coupon.
That has now changed in a good way. Take a look!
I first learned about this change when I received my usual latitudes rewards “coupon book” for lack of a better word that you get on day one when you enter your cabin. It shows the updated wording that is now also displayed on some (no, not all) of the pages on NCL.com and says:
“Benefit is available on sailings 5 days or longer, and entitles each guest to an appetizer, one entrée and dessert of choice. Upcharges apply to certain premium menu items; Raw Bar Seafood Platter is not included. Bottle of Wine offered in all venues offering Complimentary Wine list, Palomar not included. In à la carte restaurants, coupon can be redeemed for 4 menu items per person (Sushi, Wasabi, Nama, Teppanyaki, Hasuki, Food Republic, Pincho Tapas Bar or Raw Bar). Additional entrées will incur supplemental charges. Dinner coupons are non-transferrable. Solo guests cannot claim two dinners. Coupons can’t be used for the same venue twice. 2 guests maximum. Dining options vary by ship.” – NCL.com
This change is so nice because it frees you up to go to any of the specialties rather than trying to plan around what nights what form of payment can work best for you, that is, use coupon or dining package included in your “free at sea” offer you got when booking.
The only restriction now on the coupon is you can not use them both at the same venue but what I did last sailing was simply use them right away the first two dinners booked and then was free to use my free at sea nights whenever and wherever I wanted.
Bottom line this is a small but very pleasant loyalty change and one that will make choosing NCL as my cruise line to sail on for my next cruise that much simpler of a choice vs. any other line. – René

I suggest avoiding the term “enhances” since the term has become as customer-unfriendly as Bonvoyed, IRS audit, or Comcast. Maybe “improved might be a better fit. JMTC.
@Christian – Noted and agree. Thank you. Will avoid in the future!
