I love it when people think out of the box and repurpose sites for creative events. For example, the National Hockey League’s Stadium Series brings hockey games to outdoor football and baseball stadiums. (A game was even played at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium!) Major League Baseball’s Field of Dreams event in a cornfield is pretty darn cool, too.
Or when René and I took our families to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a massive solar eclipse watch party produced by Purdue University.
Red Bull decided to repurpose a narrow pier — and turned it into a runway for stunt pilot Luke Czepiela.
According to SupercarBlondie’s Henry Kelsall, the pier measured 150m or just over 393 feet.

I love how Mr. Czepiela is so cool and calm just, “Eh, just another landing. (According to his TikTok page, Mr. Czepiela is an A320 pilot.)
Here’s the thing: the pier landing isn’t his shortest-ever runway! A couple of years ago, he landed a plane on a Dubai helipad — atop a 56-story building!
That was 27m or less than 90 feet. For reference, 90 feet is the distance between two bases on a baseball diamond!
I’ve heard “Red Bull gives you wings,” but this takes things to a new level.
