Regarding the threat of piracy against cruise ships, there is nothing new about passengers being ordered to turn off all cabin lights, shut their curtains and stateroom doors and avoid open decks or external windows. We experienced the same cruising far offshore of Somalia years ago. Cruise ships may also convoy and may be accompanied by military helicopters or warships.

Why would someone pay over $16,000 per passenger to have to stay in their cabin with the lights off? Why is Cunard or any other Cruise line traveling through pirate infested waters? I wonder if the cruise line or the travel agent warned them before sailing. Of course I’d like to be safe, but I would want some compensation for being locked in my cabin. I don’t know if anyone agrees with me.
