I needed noise-canceling headphones — and as luck would have it, I had $200 of Dell credit available through one of my favorite business rewards cards!
Here’s what I ordered — and how I like it so far.
Dell Statement Credit: The Business Platinum Card® from American Express
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express members may earn up to $400 in statement credits each year for eligible purchases made through Dell Technologies. These credits are broken up in two annually: the first $200 is available from January through June. The next $200 worth is open from July through December. (Activation/enrollment is required. The credits are if-used and do not roll over. Terms apply.)
Plus, Dell purchases fall under the card’s “Electronic Goods Retailers and Software & Cloud System Providers” section of its “Key Business Categories. That means you earn 1.5 American Express® Membership Rewards® points per eligible dollar spent on Dell purchases.
Even though I’m a loyal Apple customer, I still spend all $400 each year. Remember: Dell sells more than Dell computers.
The verbiage for this benefit says it’s available through June 30, 2025. We don’t yet know if that’s a hard end for the Dell Amex Business Platinum credit as we know it, if Dell and Amex will extend the current feature, or if they will change its terms to something else.
Dell participates with several cashback-points shopping portals such as Rakuten and TopCashback. Make sure to compare rates and start your shopping sessions through one of them.
Dell Pro Wireless ANC Headset – WL5024
My first choice was a set of Bose QuietComfort earphones I bought for my wife earlier in the year with the January – June $200 Dell credit. She loves those headphones. Unfortunately, Dell doesn’t offer those anymore.
What I did find was Dell’s Pro Wireless ANC Headset WL5024. That advertises:
Elevate your workday communication with a headset that comes equipped with an AI-based microphone and Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation, designed to reduce background noise, ensure comfort, and bring your productivity to the next level.
The headphones are “certified” to work on Zoom and Microsoft Teams calls, too.
The list price is $229.99. That sounded good — especially since I had $200 to burn.
Dell allows customers to split payments at checkout. I put $200 on my Amex Business Platinum Card and the remaining $51.84 (after tax) on my 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three (3) months of being approved for card membership. because that featured a 10% statement credit offer. (Plus, I started the shopping session through Rakuten!)
Here are the headphones:
I heard a humming sound even when no media was playing. I contacted Dell customer service, and after some language barrier issues, they agreed to replace the headphones. Less than 24 hours later, the replacement headphones arrived. (That’s service!) They work just great!
The noise reduction and sound quality are quite good. As I write this post, there’s a very loud conversation taking place at my house. The active noise cancellation has reduced people’s voices to a slight muffle.
Our daughter needs a new pair of headphones; she can graduate from the toddler set to something more mature. As soon as Rakuten or TopCashback have a good Dell promotion in 2025, I’ll order another pair of these headphones for her.
So, if you need an idea of how to use your Dell statement credit, consider the Dell Pro Wireless ANC Headset!
