One advantage of living in Southern California (especially the Los Angeles area) is that it has some of the busiest airspace in the world. It’s a treasure chest for aviation lovers. We see all kinds of planes (jets and props, commercial, private, and military), helicopters (fire, police, military, and private), and rockets (SpaceX and the odd Minuteman missile test…).
One of the more delightful treats we sometimes get are flyovers from the Condor Squadron based at Van Nuys Airport. (There’s a fantastic movie called One Six Right that is mandatory viewing for all aviation lovers.) They’re a nonprofit organization flying AT6 “Texan” planes from the World War II era. They specialize in flyovers for parades, memorials, and other ceremonies.
I was at my desk this morning and heard a loud rumble that only vintage aircraft could make. So, I grabbed my camera, sprinted out the door, and got my lens attached to the camera body just as the Condors started the first of two passes. Anyway, I wanted to share the AvGeekery with you! Enjoy!

A big thank you to the Condor Squadron for everything they do!

Very Kool!! We live near a naval base in Ajax and get to see the blue angels practice and the jaguar games flyover practice
Hi, I’m in Pasadena and we just had two planes make two passes. (13:15 or so) They were different than anything I think I have ever seen. Not sleek like a jet. At first I thought gee wiz, its a huge drone.. But it looked pretty cool, and they were fast. Any chance you caught those?
Hmmm, I didn’t.
