You’re in luck if you need some Delta Air Lines Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQD) and your schedule is relatively flexible.
We found an Air France Premium Economy trip (“A” fare class) from Los Angeles (LAX) to Johannesburg, South Africa (JNB) via Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG).
The trip currently costs US $2,048.71 but should yield over $5,500 MQD. (Read this post if you’re new to MQD runs.) REMEMBER TO CREDIT THE TRIP TO YOUR DELTA SKYMILES NUMBER. (If you’ve never booked a trip like this, consider asking point.me’s Mileage Run team to help.)
It departs LAX at 6:30 PM on Sunday, November 17. If you don’t live in Los Angeles, there’s plenty of time to get there at some point that day or earlier on the weekend.
You return to LAX at 1:05 PM on Wednesday, November 20. That may give you enough time to fly back home that day.
You have a night and most of the next day to see the sites in Joburg.
According to the SkyMiles Calculator at Travel-Dealz, the trip should earn:
- $5,542 MQD for US $2,048.71 airfare
- 22,170 flown miles toward Delta Million Miler status
- 33,256 redeemable SkyMiles before any applicable Medallion bonuses
Here’s where things get potentially interesting. On Google Flights, the CDG to JNB hop is listed as being in Economy. That could be a glitch or not. In the above screenshot, notice that the cabin is listed as “Premium.” So, keep an eye on where your seats are. Because it’s an “A” class ticket, you should get the MQD bonus — even if you end up in coach. (But that’s a long time in coach.)
“I can’t drop everything and go to South Africa this weekend! Who can help find a mileage run for me?”
There is an entire team of people whose job is to create customized mileage runs or vacations based on your schedule, preferred airports, airlines, and all that.
We recommend point.me’s Mileage Run department for all of your mileage run needs. Let them do the heavy lifting. They’ll also monitor your trip for any changes in itineraries. They can also help with hotels and other details.
