If you’re a Las Vegas buff and want to witness history, a date has been announced for the Tropicana Las Vegas Casino Resort’s implosion.
Tropicana Implosion Date
Tropicana is set for implosion at 2:30 AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

“Before the implosion, Bally’s and the Oakland Athletics will host a commemorative event featuring a drone and fireworks display,” reports KSNV.
The Tropicana is now closed for demolition (see the above picture). A stadium housing the A’s baseball team will be built on the site.
Luckily, the A’s won’t need to worry about missing playoff games to attend the festivities; they’re one of the worst teams in baseball.
The hotels closest to the Trop are MGM Grand, New York-New York, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Park MGM. If you want to get up at 2:30 AM on a Wednesday morning, consider booking one of those hotels and asking for a view of the Tropicana. (Although, will those rooms be vacant because of debris?)
The Oakland A’s Future Stadium
It will be a wonderful destination — for fans of opposing teams.
But for the six people in Vegas who are excited about the worst owner in baseball (I’m a Minnesota Twins fan, and that’s saying something) bringing his team to Vegas, I don’t think the locals are too excited.
Even Vegas’ mayor expressed thoughts that the team should stay in Oakland.
Let’s face it: visiting teams’ fans will probably outnumber A’s fans. The contests will be glorified home games for opposing teams. I’m way more excited about going to Vegas to see my Twins play than my local venues (Dodger Stadium and Angels Stadium).
Final Approach
The Tropicana Las Vegas will be imploded on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 2:30 AM. I’m flirting with the idea of going — but will probably leave it to my favorite Vegas vloggers like Travel Ruby, Norma Geli, Jacob Orth, and M2MV.
In any case, it’s sad to see the Trop go. Especially for a garbage organization like the Oakland A’s.

Why is it not being done at midnight on New Years Eve? I’ll answer my own question by saying that stadium development is preventing them from waiting three months. It still would have been cool though.
Are you saying that 2:30 AM on a Wednesday night in October isn’t splashy or fun?!
