The funny, if not wise, movie character Ferris Bueller once said “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it“. That sure is the case on the blog with Frequent Floaters finding a new home here on Eye of the Flyer. What else went on? Take a look:
This blog has broken a number of huge changes in the Delta SkyMiles and Medallion program. We extensively covered the brutal changes elite status qualification and the rollback of taking them way too far. Delta management indicated they will reach the brutal numbers they wanted with the first release so it is just a matter of time. Will it be this year? Maybe!
Did you know we have a man who works full time with a major cruise line and spends most of his life at sea and that this man is an author here on the blog? This week he covers what happens to all the junk we make while onboard. Would it shock you to know some things are in fact dumped at sea?
Delta gate agents have a LOT of power. They can make your trip an enjoyable one or much less so. They can choose to follow company policy or, as we have seen a number of times, go their own way. They can even, it seems, choose to force you to check your carry-on if you try to board before you zone!
When you board a cruise ship you will likely bring onboard a lot of luggage. Why? Some cruise ships have formal nights where you can dress “to the 9’s” as they say. Oceania is an upscale cruise experience and they have a “Country Club Casual” dress code. Just what is that? Take a look.
I used DoorDash last night for my dinner and maybe you did too because you started the month of August with some credits. I love this small perk and two major credit cards have extended the benefit they provide. I like it!
Speaking of monthly or yearly credits – a number of popular travel cards have credits you can use either each month, or every 6 months or even once a year. These credits can be so large they wipe out the yearly fee for the cards. Have these cards turned into “coupon books”? Yeah kinda?
When it comes to cruising I, almost every single trip, fly in a day or days early as the cruise ship will depart without me if I am late arriving. Thus I have to stay at hotels and I don’t like paying for them. So I use points like these to do that. You?
Lastly my wife and I contracted with “Rapha Transport” via Expedia to get from the Port Canaveral cruise port to Orlando airport. It was a great value but the driver drove at over 90 MPH while blasting us with religious music. It was not a good time!
Have a great and safe weekend everyone and if you are flying or vacationing or cruising I hope the memories are amazing and I can not wait for my next adventure later this month! – René
