Some people still need Delta Air Lines SkyMiles MQM to achieve their 2024 status goals. So, we’re still looking for MQM runs — and we found one!
This Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu (HNL) run nets 8,064 MQM or $330.70. That comes out to a very respectable 4.1 cents per MQM.
The trip travels LAX-HNL-MSP-LAX. And it is a Main Cabin/coach run. This might be the time to redeem some Regional Upgrade Certificates (RUC) if you have any lying around. The flights to and from HNL are aboard 767-300s featuring lie-flats in First Class.
I like that the trip departs on a Friday and gets home the next day.
I believe some shuttle services provide roundtrip transportation from HNL to Waikiki Beach. That’s something you could do for a few hours during your layover.
There may be other available dates. This is the first one I saw; I wanted to get it out to you ASAP.
But I need MQD – not MQM! What about ME?!

Chris, sound we book this as a multi-city itinerary?
I found it as a RT.
Thanks.
Given the announcement from Delta it may be worth doing MQM runs to get your balance above increments of 100,000 net of your status qualification amount for next year. If you’re close to rolling over 100k, 200k, 300k, etc. and are going to be Diamond or Platinum in 2024 it could make sense.
I just came back from this exact itinerary. I booked it and used my RCU right after I read this post.
Outbound flight was on time but return flight was delayed from 6:40PM to 7:09PM. It made my 33 minutes layover in MSP at risk. Although the pilot recovered some time in the air, the flight still landed MSP at 6:44AM with a 14min delay from its original schedule at gate F10. The next flight to LAX was at gate C1. I was running like to there’s no tomorrow to make it to gate C1. The door closed right after I stepped in the aircraft. I guess I was the only one who booked this mileage run itinerary as I saw no one running with me. I would definitely reconsider to have such short layover time in the future.
