The last international flight I was on with Delta this past December was my crazed escape from 4 million over the top insane football fans in Buenos Aires Argentina. I am really not kidding when I say insane (as you can see in this post).
On that flight, I was given what I think is still the current stock Delta business class amenity kit that I called in the post “NoOne NoWhere” because it is such a piece of junk that even using it in Premium Select (a.k.a. Delta’s premium economy) would be an insult. Why Delta, charging such sky-high prices vs. other airlines, is offering something so weak is beyond me.
Beyond the cheap contents is the kit itself. I mean I have, as you can see, a bunch of old Delta kits and I have used them for many many years to hold all kinds of things. For example, the bottom left one holds a battery brick and power cord and lives in my golf bag as I often use my phone for GPS on golf shots (for distance). It is one of my favorite kits ever as it is a good size and has quality construction.
I have never been a big fan of the hard case Tumi kits but it has its uses as I put stuff in my travel backpack that I don’t want to risk being crushed and it works very well for that purpose.
The skinny and mini-skinny kits have worked well for cords of all kinds as well as N95 masks. While I don’t wear a mask when up in the air, I do still tend to put one on when I move about on the way to the plane.
The old trusty blue flap one has been the home to a number of generations of laptop power cords as well as my travel mouse. The few-generation back gray soft side one at the top holds my power splitter with USB ports and the old NWA one holds a power cord for a high-capacity power brick I still have.
Heck, even the much-hated round red kit I use for my GoPro and its battery fits perfectly into the thing and it is a good reminder (being red) to grab it before I go on a trip.
Overall I love almost all of the kits Delta Air Lines has used over the years and they are all fond reminders of the trips I have taken (until the latest version clearly). Do you have a favorite old kit that you still use or one you also just hate and tossed out when returning home? Let us all know! – René

I don’t think I’ve ever used on ever on any airline.
Let me grab a few off of EBay, try them out, and I’ll get back to you.
Hard case Tumi
I still use both the hard case Tumi and soft case black Tumi
Bottom left by far. The Tumi hard case.
Certainly, my least favorite kit is the Delta toiletry kit. Not only are the contents lackluster it also means I am probably wearing the same set of clothes the next day.
I took the first one and was really surprised at the poor quality. After that, I have left every one without touching it. What a disappointment that Delta would offer such a thing as an amenity!
All Tumi bags. The new ones don’t have zipper, and look cheap (and probably are – lol).
Bring back TUMI ASAP newkit is an insult.
Anything with a decent zipper I keep and find a use for it. The latest kits are well meaning but just junk as far as I’m concerned. The amenities aren’t all that good either.
I HATE the current amenity kit. I empty it and
My

Like to. Play with them.
My favorite was the mauve/ purplish soft Tumi
Woven nylon.
The had bodies Tumi was too unforgiving when packing tightly.
As an aside, the Aeromexico on 788-900 long flight amenity kits are fabulous! They give you one iteration on outbound and a different one on the return
The one I liked the best…December before the Pandemic a guy next to me, who I did not know, asked me if he could have mine to give to his uncle for Christmas. Of course, I gave it to him. Best one ever.
Current one is very tacky compared what they used to offer, and they use it not just for their domestic flights but for their international as well. (I had the same cheap kit on their LAX Sydney flight, one of their longest hauls)Think they’ve gotten a little cheap compared to the Tumi kits they used to offer, hard & soft.
Years ago they had shoe bags with the amenities in them. I still use them today! Although, I did leave a pair of shoes on the plane a few years ago.
@H – Now that would really be useful and especially so since Delta One seats have so little storage. So how did you exit the plane without shoes? 😉
Tumi hardside holds all my cords, adaptor etc. it’s the best!
