Hey there, sports fans! And concert fans! And live production show fans! And Delta SkyMiles members!
Here’s a way you can pad your SkyMiles balance while buying tickets to live events. Plus, we have a tip for earning some cashback on top of that!
Delta and Ticketmaster Partnership
Delta SkyMiles members can earn one mile per eligible dollar spent on Ticketmaster purchases. You may earn a maximum of 2,500 base miles per month. (That’ll help ease the pain of Disney on Ice tickets I have to buy this holiday season.)
You must start each purchase at DeltaTicketmaster.com. Enter your SkyMiles number and then click “Continue.” That’ll take you to Ticketmaster’s website.
A few key bullet points:
- The SkyMiles account holder must be the same as the Ticketmaster account holder in order to earn miles (Name in both accounts must match).
- Miles are awarded based on the ticket price. Taxes, facility, service, parking, insurance and other fees are excluded from mileage credit. Members can earn a maximum of 2,500 base miles per calendar month.
- Standard ticket inventory offered on ticketmaster.com for events taking place in the United States and Canada is eligible for miles as long as Member is originating from delta.com/ticketmaster and enters a valid SkyMiles number.
This isn’t really anything new. Delta and Ticketmaster launched the program a few years ago. But longtime EotF reader DTW Daddy recently brought it up and I thought it’s worth a reminder post.
Earn Up to 4% Cashback!
Three no-annual-fee Capital One credit cards offer cashback on entertainment purchases. A Capital One representative confirmed to me that Ticketmaster purchases qualify!
The [Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Savor Student Cash Rewards Credit Card, and Capital One Savor Cash Rewards for Good Credit, all earn unlimited 3% cash back on eligible purchases made in the following categories:
- Entertainment (such as Ticketmaster)
- Movie theaters
- Sports promoters (professional and semi-professional live events)
- Theatrical promoters
- Amusement parks
- Tourist attractions
- Aquariums
- Zoos
- Dance halls
- Record stores
- Pool halls
- Bowling alleys
- Purchases made through schools, churches, etc. are not eligible
- Dining
- Popular streaming services
- Grocery stores (excluding superstores like Walmart and Target)
All other eligible purchases earn 1%.
Cashback can be applied toward statement credit, travel purchases made through Capital One Travel, PayPal deposits, checks sent directly to you, movie rewards, Amazon purchases, gift cards, and other options.
How are the cards different?
- The Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card is targeted toward people with Excellent or Good credit.
- The Capital One Savor Cash Rewards for Good Credit is for folks who don’t have Excellent credit. Its interest rates also tend to be higher than the “standard” Savor card. Plus, it doesn’t offer an early spending bonus.
- Finally, the Capital One Savor Student Cash Rewards Credit Card is for college students. (Shocking, right?)
Meanwhile, the Capital One Savor Rewards Card earns 4% back on entertainment, dining, etc. That, however, carries a $95 annual fee. And its early spending bonus awards you $300 after you spend $3000 on eligible purchases within the first three (3) months of card membership.
Final Approach
Delta SkyMiles members can earn a mile per dollar spent when buying tickets through the DeltaTicketmaster.com portal.
Plus, those who enjoy stacking and making a little extra rewards can earn 3% or 4% cashback with an eligible Capital One Savor card.

” Miles are awarded based on the ticket price. Taxes, facility, service, parking, insurance and other fees are excluded from mileage credit. ”
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but “other fees” is an enormous part of the cost of any purchase through Ticketmaster!!
