SkyMiles members in the Midwest looking to pad their MQM balances (and get out of the cold weather) might like this: a Delta mileage run from Chicago-O’Hare (ORD) to Maui’s Kahului airport (OGG) in December. It earns 10,074 MQM for $479.40. That comes out to about 4.8 cents per MQM. This is a Main Cabin run. But Medallions have the possibility to score upgrades, of course. You’ll also earn $405 MQD and a base of 2,025 SkyMiles before any applicable Medallion bonuses.
The key here is the connections in Atlanta (ATL).
Note that the ATL to OGG legs are aboard Delta’s A330-300 planes featuring four cabins: Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort+, and Main Cabin. If you have upgrades certificates, you might be able to automatically upgrade to Premium Select.
I see dates available from December 1 to around December 12 or so.
“Ugh! I Want to Stay in Maui Longer than 90 Minutes!”
I played around with dates and saw that it’s only slightly more expensive to stay a few nights. So, if you want to make it a mini-vacation, go for it!
“Who Cares About MQM?! I Need an MQD Run!”
Yup. I know. Within minutes of posting the DFW to Kahului run, I received comments and messages from people complaining they needed MQD runs instead of MQM runs. (And I’m looking for them!) But some people already hit their Delta Amex MQD waiver or crossed their prescribed MQD threshold. They couldn’t care less about MQD. They want MQM.
