Operations were temporarily suspended Monday morning at Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL) after a woman reportedly fired a gun in a check-in area.
According to Dallas’ NBC 5, “Dallas Chief of Police Eddie Garcia said the woman, identified only as a 37-year-old, was dropped off at the airport just before 11 a.m. and that once inside she went into a restroom and changed clothes.
Garcia said the woman exited the restroom wearing a hoody, pulled out a gun and started firing several shots. Most of the shots, Garcia said, appeared to be directed toward the ceiling.”
At least she fired at the ceiling — and not any people.
Law enforcement reportedly shot the woman in the lower body. She was apparently taken to Parkland Hospital (famous for someone else whose trip involved Love Field someone else whose trip involved Love Field) ABC News reportsreports no one else was injured.
Dallas Love Field – Female shooter was yelling as we walked into the baggage check in area. Shots were fired in the air. People began to take cover and run. Within minutes Dallas PD handled the situation. I don’t believe anyone, but the shooter was injured. pic.twitter.com/2gMd7vDyPs

People were running, panicked. I had to hide with my scared, confused children in a jetway. So thankful for that staff @SouthwestAir for taking care of us. This cannot be the way we live our lives. #DallasLove #activeshooter https://t.co/QKHRbTlf5f pic.twitter.com/0W7Ov0zyoR

A ground stop was issued. If your travel plans involve DAL (or an inbound plane from Love), check with your airline to see how your trip may be affected.
