As SNL‘s Stefon might say, “This video has it all: A disruptive passenger. Police making an arrest. Flight attendants. A Delta Air Lines 757. Airport apron views. A cute police dog.”
An incident took place last July at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), which is also known as Fort Myers Airport.
Perhaps you heard about it then. (Live and Let’s Fly’s Matthew Klint wrote a post about the event.) There was some short video footage posted on Twitter. But just today, I went down a rabbit hole on Facebook and came across the police body camera footage.
Twenty-three-year-old Adelaide Schrowang allegedly wouldn’t wear her mask shortly after boarding a Delta flight at RSW. A flight attendant said she spit at passengers — and copped some attitude.
The Delta crew wanted her off the flight — but needed backup. So the police were summoned and boarded the aircraft.
The cops were fairly polite and simply wanted her to vacate the plane. They didn’t seem like they would arrest her — unless they really needed to.
But Ms. Schrowang wouldn’t go quietly.
Police officers physically removed her after she didn’t comply with their repeated requests for her to leave.
“That’s not real, man!” she yelled at the officers. “That’s not healing!”
Her tirade continued down the 757’s aisle, up the jet bridge, across the gate area, down the stairs outside, on the apron, and into a waiting police vehicle.
What’s also interesting is that she correctly calls out some of the police officers for not wearing masks.
Upon arriving for booking at the sheriff’s station, she tells a deputy that she looked into the arresting officer’s eyes on the plane — and admitted she thought he was cute. Until, you know, he detained her. (See? It could’ve been a love story!)
Ms. Schrowang was charged with resisting an officer, trespassing, and interfering with aircraft operations. Her bail was set at — get ready — $65,000. She apparently spent two weeks in the clink before her release.
Ms. Schrowang eventually told Fort Myers’ ABC 7 she “had been experiencing a lot of anxiety” that day which “was just particularly a boiling point from a lot of stuff going on.”
Why did she keep removing her mask?
“I was asked to put it on, I would put it back on (and) remove it… When I go into those states of panic, it’s like hyperventilating.”
That’s somewhat understandable. In the news piece, she apologized for her behavior and said she wishes she hadn’t boarded the plane that day. Her lawyer said she didn’t have to pay any bail. She also denied spitting at anyone.
So if you’re interested in checking out the video, it’s embedded below. (Beware of some coarse, not-safe-for-(most)-workplaces language.)
And, wouldn’t you know it, there was another incident just the other day involving people getting tossed off a Delta flight — in Florida.

Wow! Honestly I feel sorry for that girl. However, I’d still like to see the Con – sti -tu – tion -al procedures when they open that “green” bag she left at 34B.
We all know the door code now.
Super good professional job by the police. I would not have had near the patience they displayed.
Jeezuz America, what has happened to you animals, she didn’t wear a mask, big deal, get a grip America, how did you let this happen to this once wonderful country. Any wonder people are pissed off with the Police, complete and utter overkill
No shirt, no shoes, no service. If you won’t leave my store I’m calling the police. I don’t care if you are anxious, psycho, drunk, drugged up, a raging nut job, whatever. By the way, you are no longer welcome in my store. If you huff and you puff you are going to deny me your patronage in the future, great, don’t let the door hit your behind on the way out. In this case, the police did a fantastic job.
