We’ve received dozens of messages about our rebranding from Rene’s Points to Eye of the Flyer.
An overwhelming majority of those notes are kind. Some offer constructive criticism about the blog’s design. Others simply wish us well. I truly appreciate that feedback.
Some folks had questions about topics I thought I covered in our official relaunch post. If several people have the same concerns then I’m sure there are many others.
Believe me — it’s very flattering and humbling that so many people care about our blog. 🙂
So let’s discuss some FAQ that popped up in the past week.
What Changed?
The site’s name and design. I know some longtime readers may have some difficulty adjusting to the new look. It’s the same for us, too! (The backend is a little different.)
We’re still tweaking some aesthetics and technical aspects. For example, we modified our post and page font so the text is easier to read.
Our Amazon banner is back. You’ll find it toward the bottom of the page on mobile devices and on the right side of desktop browsers. (We always appreciate it when you use our link or banner to begin your shopping sessions! Thank you!)
Is René Still Writing for Eye of the Flyer?
Yes! He contributes one or two posts a week — just as he has for the past two years.
A number of people were concerned about Rene’s relationship with the blog and his health.
He and I are great friends and enjoy working together. His health is just fine. Everything is hunky-dory. Don’t worry.
What Happened to All the Rene’s Points Posts?
This blog as a whole has created thousands of posts. Most of them are still available. Trip reports, rookie posts, Delta topics, and all that are still around. You can use the search bar to poke around for whatever you need.
We simply unpublished some content that is no longer relevant: Swag Saturday winners, posts about now-defunct products or programs, and stuff like that.
We took some grief for that — people insist that we should keep our posts about SPG, Delta SkyMiles 2012, and other topics they feel are still relevant. (Man, I thought I live in the past too much! 🙂 ) Our analytics indicated that’s not so. So did every consultant I talked to. And search engines aren’t too fond of outdated, irrelevant content. (For the record: I dearly miss SPG, too!)
Where are the Mileage Runs?
We still publish mileage run as we find them! We posted two this week. I love finding good deals and writing about them!
(Don’t wait around for us, though. Our friends at Juicy Miles are full-time mileage run creators.)
Final Approach
Thanks again for your comments, well-wishes, and feedback. Don’t worry: we’re still writing and posting like we always have. Rene has a fantastic relationship with the blog. All is well.

Will we still receive the emails for delta runs?
Yes. We moved to a email distribution service and are sorting out some settings. I hope to have it remedied soon!
Thanks for adjusting the font!
Thanks for everything you do.
We truly appreciate it. Looking forward to raisng a glass (or 2) with you & Rene once the Border opens
Take care
Jerry
Just two?!
I am fascinated by Juicy Miles… they will help a person book award travel, and assure the best deal… do they charge a fee for this service? If not, where’s their upside? What’s the business model.
I often wonder if I could be getting better value for my skymiles when I redeem them, but I’d like to understand how Juicy Miles works before asking for their help.
They charge a $200 fee per passenger but discount that rate for people who sign up for their subscription service.
Love the new look, content. Not much different at all. Thanks Chris
Thanks, Dana!
Well congrats, I guess.
Good luck.
