Austin-based SkyMiles members can score a bunch of MQM for a pretty decent price during this same-day Delta mileage run to Los Angeles.
The key here is the connections in Atlanta.
Thanks to Delta awarding 50% MQM, MQD, and MQS bonuses on coach tickets — including award tickets — those 5,516 MQM become 8,274 MQM. (The MQD should be about $277 MQD.) At the $238.80 price, that brings your CPMQM to about 2.9 cents!
Plus, Medallion members are eligible for complimentary upgrades.
I saw only one date available at this price: Wednesday, August 25. But punch around and you might find other dates or even better connections.

I am a DL Platinum member with five DL trips scheduled the rest of the year. Can you please tell me why on Delta seating charts that many of the seats that I am eligible for have an X on the seat instead of the shape of a person? I am unable to select the seat. When I mouse over the seat it indicates that “the seat is unavailable for selection but it may be occupied before the flight departs”. This includes emergency exit row seats which I am eligible for. I understand why the last two rows have “X” on them but do not understand all the other seats with X’s on them. I asked a Delta rep on the phone about the “X”‘s and she indicated that the seats were taken on her screen.
@Brian – There is a long FlyerTalk thread on this current bug but there are ways to test. 1) Do a dummy booking (not logged in) and see if the “X” seats are open or 2) try logging out of Delta.com and back in and see if that fixes it. Also maybe try Fly Delta App to see if different. Depending on results you may be able to call the Platinum line and get the seat you want.
