Here’s someone who might cash in during Cyber Monday. A flight attendant is getting worldwide attention for selling her panties — and allegedly prostituting herself for layovers. And offering titillating services during flights.
According to The Sun, the woman is a British Airways employee. Pictures printed in the post indicate she uses the social media handle “Airhostess71.”
The New York Post writes there’s allegedly a BA investigation underway.
The report says the flight attendant sells her underwear for about $33 USD. Booking fees for, ahem, in-person services on layovers cost $66. But that’s just to secure her time. Anything above and beyond is an extra, negotiated charge.
And for those who are sick of the same six sitcoms on their IFE screens, she purportedly offers her own in-flight entertainment. The Sun says she advertises, “If you ever want adult entertainment on-board, all you have to do is give me a sum of money and you’ll be treated to a whole different experience of your choice.”
Why might the flight attendant peddling her wares and talents?
Sadly, it may be a way to make ends meet.
According to a Sun source, “This highlights a serious point in that many staff can’t afford to live on reduced wages since the cutbacks, and she is raising funds in her own time. But this is not on. Times are hard and if this is something she’s happy doing it’s hard to argue. But she is bringing her employer into disrepute and placing herself in great danger.”
Final Approach
I once heard a flight attendant (whose name and airline I won’t disclose) wonder if there’s a market for, shall we say, undergarments worn by flight attendants. This particular exchange followed a rather salacious storyline in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black.
Well, apparently, it’s a thing.
If, in fact, she launched her side gig out of financial desperation, that’s fairly depressing. If she’s eventually identified by her airline, I imagine her financial situation will get a lot worse.
Then again, maybe not?
