We found a fun mileage run from LAX to Dallas –but taking a rather circuitous route. 🙂
It yields 5,065 MQM and prices out to only $107.60 in Basic Economy. That’s about 2.1 CPM! Delta is keeping middle seats open through at least January 6. So you’ll theoretically have at least one open seat next to you. (Main Cabin — for those wanting specific seats or shots at upgrades — runs $179.60, which comes out to 3.5 CPM. Still very reasonable.)
I’ve received messages from people upset we’re posting mileage runs because the trips are, essentially, non-essential travel. I understand — and am not traveling for the foreseeable future. But here’s why we’re posting runs.
Several dates are available — both weekdays and weekends. Our sample run below is completed during a (long) Saturday. Here’s a Google Flights links to start your search.
Your layover is just shy of two and a half hours. So I don’t know if it’s enough time to fit in a meal at Hard Eight BBQ.
- Cost: $107.60 in Basic Economy
- Dates: Several throughout fall
- Route: LAX-MSP-DFW-ATL-LAX
- MQM: 5,065 (2.12 MQM)
- MQD: $84
- Base SkyMiles: 420

Thanks for posting MR’s. But think I am in the situation a majority might be in for 2021-2022 as we are going to need MR’s for MQD’s as most will probably have enough MQM’s from rollover, spend etc. I see no need to do any this year especially if your at DM level since status will carry over in 2021. But hoping things improve and get ready to start early in 2021 so not scrambling EOY.
I agree that MQD runs will be especially important next year. My concern, though, is which countries will be open to other countries’ residents. And how soon vaccines are available. I don’t know how soon we can jump on MQD runs in 2021. I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes until mid-late 2021 until MQD runs return to something somewhat normal.
