Miami-area Delta travelers who want to pick up some MQM for a decent price should check out this weekend mileage to LAX. (It’s also available during some weekdays, too.)
It yields 6,070 MQM and prices out to $199.60 in Basic Economy. Remember, Delta is keeping middle seats open through at least January 6. So you (should) have an open seat next to you.
If you want a shot at upgrades or need a specific seat (i.e. bulkhead, exit row), Main Cabin is $70 more. That actually might be worth it for a possible Delta One upgrade between JFK and LAX. Plus, an overnight flight is involved, so if you want a chance at first class for that hop, the extra money might be worth it.
Our sample run departs FLL on Saturday, December 5 at 11:20 AM, connects through JFK and gets you to Los Angeles just past 6:00 PM. You have four hours at LAX — plenty of time to enjoy the T2 Sky Club or maybe even head over to In-N-Out for a Double-Double and some fries.
Your return departs LAX at 10:00 PM, connects through Atlanta, and gets you back to FLL just before 9:00 AM on Sunday morning.
Here’s a Google Flights link to start your search. The big key is connecting through JFK on the outbound.
- Cost: $199.60 in Basic Economy
- Dates: Several throughout fall
- Route: FLL-JFK-LAX-ATL-FLL
- MQM: 6070 (3.3 CPM)

- Base SkyMiles: 880

Here’s why we’re posting mileage runs.
Chris,
Thanks for posting mileage runs as for me it is nice to think about a better future or at least remember the past when we could do mileage runs without a care in the world.
Also for the people who criticize you for promoting “non-essential” travel, can we please get back to allowing adults to make their decisions based on their own circumstances and needs. As long as Delta is flying and taking precautions, I think it is OK for people to travel based on their OWN needs and risk tolerance.
Anyway, I know I look forward to the mileage runs even though they may not do any of them for a while.
Cheers
