After our post about Delta MQD not rolling over to 2021, we received several questions about which Delta MQM roll over to next year.
For example, “Keyser Soze” asked us yesterday:
I’ve been reading a lot of posts on different sources, and all say “MQM’s earned this year roll over to next year”, but I had a bunch roll over from 2019, and they will be in my total on Dec 31, 2020, so it seems all in my account will roll over, not just those earned this year. Correct?
Let not your heart be troubled, Keyser (and any other suspects, usual or otherwise 😉 ) .
A Delta spokesperson told me that all MQM in an account this year will roll over to 2021.
So you’re not limited to miles to earned only during 2020. If you’re like me and rolled over a bunch from 2019 but have flown very little this year, all of your MQM are fine. Enjoy them as a little (or big) kickstarter toward 2022 elite staus.
And with the MQM bonuses that targeted Delta Amex cardholders can earn through the rest of the year, the roll over extension is potentially more valuable.

Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Chris. It’s unfortunate they are not doing anything with the MQDs. I earned 10k right before COVID.
Thanks Chris. I will share that as a DM I was trying to rebook some international flights for 2021 that were cancelled by DL for summer 2020. At the time the agents stated I should leave the credits on file rather than ask for a cash refund. The reason being my PU50, global upgrade certificates, would remain attached and reusable due to DL’s cancellation. I want to share that was not the case. I talked to several DM agents and a supervisor and no go. They used a disclaimer stating that since DL Elite status was auto-extended DMs’ would get more options to select certificates for “free”. I argued that since I would qualify anyway I was losing out. No luck. Just wanted to share incase anyone else was in this unusual situation. Yes, still a fortunate one, but disappointing that the stories and promises didn’t align. Thanks for all you do keeping us updated!
Kevin, when my May European trip was cancelled, I finally requested my refund last month. In May or June, Delta redeposited my global upgrades, to now expire 12/31/20.
so what would happen to this scenario
i currently have 124k mqm
and went over my 25k spend on DL Amex
in normal times this would qualify me for PLat medallion and the 50k mqms will rollover for 2021
since i am already grandfathered to be diamond again in 2021 will all 124k mqms roll over ???
That’s correct.

Thank you for clarifying.
Just better to avoid spending this year on any Delta CC…and wait until next year when MQD’s will count.
This was super shady by Delta to give away all the MQM (via rollover and bonuses)….but purposely not rollover MQD which is 50% of the equation.
But it’s good for people who want to load up on MQM for rollovers — and get their MQD exemption with the $25k Delta Amex spend next year or take partner runs (or actually spend $15k on Delta flights)
MQDs are also irrelevant for Canadians and other foreigners.
